Oh, I've heard this before....young folks nowadays want to live their lives and fuck around just like other kids do, not just go into the family business out of school or start popping out babies as soon as they hit adulthood. Then you got folks living to their 100s there.

And I suspect some folks just would rather.....er....marry their waifus/husbandos.

Also, LOL at Japan taking refugees in. They don't want them either.

Are we counting anime characters as part of the current population census? That would help skew the average age younger and maybe bump up the population somewhat.

I don't see this being a bad thing since their society is so packed in on that tiny island. Their hotel rooms are smaller than my dog house.

almost everything the japs do is somewhere centered around being more understanding of other people's struggles so, that has more to do with their philosophy than anything else. living in bigger spaces tends to make one more narcissistic, hence why mansions make rich people more prejudiced for example. doing the opposite tends to make one more humble.

Japan’s population has fallen by nearly one million people in five years - the first decline since official census records started in the 1920s.

Between 2010 and 2015, Japan lost 947,345 citizens, more people than the entire population of San Francisco.

As the nation has grown progressively older and the birth rate has fallen, Japan has faced a population crisis.

...

Japan also faces the problem of a rapidly ageing society and has one of the highest populations of elderly citizens of anywhere in the world.

According to a report by the University of Pensylvania titled ‘the graying of Japan’, those over 65 now already account for roughly a quarter of the country’s population.

Worker shortage wouldn't be a problem in future Japan if robots are handling all the work by then.

they have very little time outside work to enjoy themselves. japan is literally has a work to death culture so this shouldn't surprise anyone. when men are treated like ATM machines on top of that, they collectively start to not give a fuck and live for themselves.

considering how vile certain people are, I'm guessing the west (and whatever other parts of the world with wacky laws) will follow suit with japan.

Japan should create paths to citizenship for young people in nearby South-East Asia. I believe germany actually has the lowest replacment numbers of any nation aka they have less children per adult female than any other nation, but they accept a lot of refugees and migrants from the middle-east/ turkey etc so their population grows. Most highly developed nations have increasing populations only because of immigration.

The social and economic policies over there are not family-friendly. If the Japanese government is actually serious about solving the population skew problem then it should've been doing a whole lot more than appoint some "special minister" to handle the issue which by itself wouldn't do much.

I admit, I don't know anything about Japan's politics, other than it's actually still quite conservative, but this sounds like they were taking their cues from certain politicans in America...

Well, there were concerns about overcrowding in Japan in the mid-2000s. It's working out on it's own. Plenty of folks will simply have to face the reality check; populations fluctuate.

To be honest, it isn't only Japan, although a lot more people are dying at once now there. In the United States of America alone, over 70% of the population is over the age of 40. Give us another 20 years, especially with the current birth rate and amount of female problems, and our population will be easily halved. The only reason you can't tell as much is because we get a lot of immigration, which makes it look like our national population is steady when it is really in a state of serious decline. Japan doesn't have that immigration to mask it's population decline. Heck, France PAYS you to have kids, because they are so desperate for their population to increase to something sustainable with so many people dying. It really affects a country's GDP to be honest. Less people = less money no matter how you look at it.

dont worry, india will solve all your problem. India can export humans to france, japan, usa and any place. India has 1.3 bil pop and there is no stopping their growth.
Also the old people from india can be sent to Europe as europe has good care for old people. indian old people can migrate to europe as refugees.

It also might have something to do with all the radiation and stuff. Heck, certain chemicals in the food make you more sterile and less desirous of sex, if they have a lot of those chemicals in their food that could be it. But seriously....and sadly....it is probably a combination of 2 things. Massive (and continuous) radiation because that is one of the side effects of it I believe, and having nothing and no one really, to live for. Used to, you would live for someone, whether it was your family, your spouse, or your kids, no matter how much you argued. At least you had a reason for well, arguing even. Japan works so hard I think, partially because so many know how meaningless life is....but at the same time they don't know what love (working to provide for someone or a group of someone's whether they be a family or even sick people at a hospital) is. Plus not being able to rest as much, they probably have trouble emotionally connecting with those and the areas around them.

That would only work if Europe sent more young people to help take care of the elderly from India though. Europe's services are strained enough as it is, since they have so many old people to care for, more than there are young people.

welp, population in africa is booming with no condoms

But not for long, as more kids are born with sexual diseases and then die at young ages. It is a continent literally of mostly children, many of them doomed to die because there is and was no availability of condoms and such there for their parents. And because of the very brutal rape that occurs (though that also happens everywhere). What harms the mother generally harms the child, literally. Heck, even the baddest of bad guys knew that and weren't so brutal towards women as sexist as many of them were back in the day (worldwide).

That won't last long. Most of Asia, especially the two with the most people, China and India, are aborting most of their girls, meaning that their population will soon decline just like everyone else's due to the lack of women to have children. China is already suffering for that, and soon India will start to feel the serious pangs of it, although I think they already are, people just focus on China more than India. Africa is mostly a continent of children. And many of those children will die young because their parents had no condoms. So...their population boom isn't going to last long either. Furthermore, you treat women badly, then they can't have yo' kids. And both Asia and Africa, especially Africa, are notorious for treating women very badly. Asia and Africa will soon collapse because of those things.
