"China and India, are aborting most of their girls, meaning that their population will soon decline just like everyone else's due to the lack of women to have children. "
So Indians and chinese men wont migrate due to lack of women in their countries?
yeah you make sense. chinese men and indian men will just take it and not migrate and look for women from europe.
"Africa is mostly a continent of children. And many of those children will die young because their parents had no condoms. So...their population boom isn't going to last long either."
So you mean africa wont be able to commence the great migration where large number of people will migrate due to the fact such as lack of jobs, opportunity and simply just sit there. Dam. here i thought they would try to reach europe in rubber floats and human smugglers etc.
"Furthermore, you treat women badly, then they can't have yo' kids. And both Asia and Africa, especially Africa, are notorious for treating women very badly. Asia and Africa will soon collapse because of those things."
Oh you mean liberals from europe wont say refugees are welcome when 10000 or more migrants die in the sea. well i guess europeans finally learn that they dont have to fix problems they cannot fix.

Japans problems are primarily socially. Some people just won't put out the effort to seek out the opposite sex. Mainly that both use the excuse of being embarrassed or some other sociological defect. Not to mention the views of women changing. Some people just don't have the time for a family or even if they do via traditional means of arranged marriage it can tend to be a loveless marriage. They have their own culture over there but, if they don't sort themselves out they may not exist as a nation state for much longer.

With the Japanese government putting money and research into the creation of mobile suits. I don't doubt that they are also heavily invested into cyberization programs as well to get around the problem with a decreasing population by maintain its current one. One way or the other if they can't maintain a population they will be invaded by other nations with will use sheer weight of numbers to its advantage.

I for one will gladly and willingly participate in the re-population of the Japanese workforce. Sorry, no other countries apply.

(yes I know that was a semi-joke but)

Japan's population problem has much more to do with socio-economic conditions over there being hostile and non-conducive to getting together and raising a family

What an informative article....

It seems that if the Japanese government changed its tax codes, and if Japanese corporations took away the penalties from married women, that after a generation, the problem would solve itself. The trouble is that it's the old-timers that are stuck in their old ways that are making the rules...

Change tax codes to reward married couples; make it easier for married couples to buy a house; get rid of the the old traditions in corporate Japan that punishes married women...... The article shows that these three things make being single the optimum choice in Japan, the way things are now...

Amazing.

Until I've read that article, I was thinking that it was something genetic that was causing the problem. However, now I think I have a better understanding of what's happening. This is something that requires a massive change in the way stubborn institutions (and the stubborn old traditionalists) do things....

That's a great summary of the article

I think I'll just edit the post and stick that summary on top

I was thinking the same. People still would pass on naturally and the population would decrease slowly over time. It's a win win situation.

Since I've read this artivle, I've started seeing references about this issue in anime. In "Peeping Life TV Season 1??", episode 5 at 16:18 "Matchmaking Center: Working Woman in Denial", you see a glimpse of it. In "I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying" season 1, episode 10, you get another glimpse of this issue... I wonder how many other anime, and live action Japanese Dramas address this issue, either directly or indirectly?

EDIT:

Damn! More evidence of this!

I saw this in some Japanese variety program that was interviewing this Japanese woman living in Iran who married an Iranian she met while he was a refugee in Japan.

Apparently Japan has taken in Muslim refugees before... and it ended up deporting most of them due to a large amount of scamming and theft that went on when they did.

It would only make sense that they are really wary and don't want anymore.

Could be like here in America that young people just don't feel as much pressure to start families. When a nation is moderately prosperous and moves out of the farming or industrial sector and no longer needs as many laborers there just isn't as much of a need to have more kids. Also at least over here there's not much of a stigma attached to being single anymore. In fact it seems to be encouraged. More and more young people are becoming self sufficient and told to just wait and to get their life in order before trying to have a family and a lot of them are doing just that. I really don't know the state of Japan and I'm really not qualified to understand their population problem but I wonder if it's like here where it just seems to make more sense staying single? Seems like the benefits far outweigh the negatives especially if society no longer views being single as a bad thing. If they have laws that don't really benefit married couples that doesn't help either. At least here you get some pretty big tax breaks for being married and having kids......still doesn't even put a dent in the actual cost of having a child. I like kids.....as long as they go home with their parents at the end of the day. I couldn't imagine having one. Cats are hard enough. It's always fun buying super noisy gifts for the kids of people I know though. I love the look on the parents faces when they realize what the heck I just bought their child for Christmas. Muahahaha!

I dont blame them at all, they're smart for not doping so. It would make their population growth skyrocket though.
