Story should honestly be the only thing that matters, the only time story doesn't matter is if the anime is literally too painful to watch ( a la CGI)

Not especially. While I don't pay attention to writers for anime and manga so much, if I see they've got some good stuff to their name then it can pique my curiousity, but that won't stop me from giving people I don't know a shot.

I never really cared, except on a few occasions when I looked into who the author was.

Author does not matter to me as long as I enjoy the story.

I usually like to know the person behind some of my favorite stories, so yes. That only means that when they come out with something else I get hyped for it. Like the Gantz creator doing Inuyashiki. I liked gantz, and I already knew I liked his work so I was already interested, but it seems like when people work on more than one story their stories are radically different, like Inuyashiki, and that's why I like them. Same with Togashi. He did Yu Yu Hakusho, and Hunter x Hunter. Although I watched HxH first, I still got excited learning that he did Yu Yu as well.

I have to disagree with this. Authors in any medium are immortal, it's just remembered by who loved the story. People who watch the Naruto anime may not know who created it, but anyone who's read the manga will. Everybody knows who does One Piece, and everybody (or at least the anime enthusiasts) go crazy whenever Shinichiro Watanabe comes onto the scene. The only difference is that casual viewers won't care, and that's fine, but saying nobody will care about any storyteller is drastic.

Everyone knows who J.K. Rowling, George R R Martin, Tolkien, Steven Spielberg, Edgar Allen Poe, Stephen King are. Is it possible there's someone who doesn't know? Of course, but they'd be rare. What matters is that the fans know who they are and respect them. And your comment has no respect.

I don't really care, but if a racist wrote a book, it makes you look for signs in his works where it shows. Much like how one looks for religious symbols and crap in C.S. Lewis' The Chronicle of Narnia or In his pacifistic socialism in H.G. Wells later works. Or how one examines Planned Parenthood when learning of the creators racial intentions.

What's with all the different colours?
Anyways it doesn't matter for me but if it happens to be written by Gen Urobuchi then I expect to feel sad and hate myself at the end.

With anime, no, I'm not going to focus on the writer.

Not really...... no. I care too much about the story I'm watching or reading, although I do like certain writers/ authors when it comes to liking their style or way of writing something. I'm just more about liking something as a whole instead of being concerned about the actual writer.
