Post Reply Is it ok for a parent to bath with their child?

I don't think there's anything wrong with bathing/showering with your child. But parents of course need to stop at a certain age. I'd say 4-5 would be a good age to start letting your child bathe alone, and learn to wash themselves up, etc.

I think it's okay for young children but I tend to agree that once they reach a certain age they should bathe by themselves. Of course there are places that have those public bath houses or public bathing, I can't remember what it's called but I think that's sort of a different scenario. I don't know, on one hand people shouldn't be so uptight about the naked body but on the other I really don't think it's a good idea for children to bathe with their parents after a certain age or even siblings. People tend to forget that even young children are extremely curious about sexuality but that's a whole different conversation and probably one parents should have with their children and probably sooner rather than later. Besides who needs a bath? Wouldn't it just be easier to load the kids up in the back of the truck and go through a car wash? It would be fun for the whole family.

If there were NO pedophiles out there and people didn't abuse children would this question even be an issue? Unfortunately there are though.

Personally I think up to a certain age mixed gender is fine. Then once you get past that age it's same gender till how ever long you both fit in the bath.

It's fine up to a certain point, after that it's probably better to give them privacy.

The people castigating the man for bathing with his daughter are retarded. Of course it's fine for a parent to bathe with their child, regardless of gender. I can't believe this is even being argued.

yeah society views 99.99999% of men as rape cases just waiting to happen. I'm not sure if it's for every airline but there was a thing i was reading about hoe unaccompanied minors on planes aren't allowed to sit next to men because the man might do something.

Without any actual harm being done, it is wrong for the public to treat a potentially innocent person like a criminal in regard to how they raise their own children. My own mother disciplined me constantly as a child with a leather belt and, on one or two occasions, with a switch. Lately, both of these are considered abusive in the eyes of many people. Furthermore, while one could argue that with those punishments actual harm is being done(whereas a voluntary parent child shower/bath is at worst, debatably, psychologically irresponsible), the temporary pain resulted in me becoming, compared to some of the people I grew up with, a more upstanding member of society. So, in the big picture view, her punishment for my wrongdoing is a net benefit, not only for myself, but for others as well.

its weird how people say that as if they have something to compare to like that argument has always struck me as silly. you don't even know how it really impacted your turnabout because you don't truly know how you would have been if you haven't been disciplined via corporal punishment. it's not exactly externally valid just because you saw "positive" results in yourself (even its not reliable bc it's such a narrow scope). plus there's a ton of research that shows corporal punishment is really not the way to go when disciplining children lol. no offense though

on topic?? i think its fine tbh i think it's a bit peculiar up to a certain age but that is my more americanized perspective shifting in

i find it a problem when people sexualize stuff like this. like for example i know pre-k's etc who have bathrooms with half a door so the teacher can make sure a kid didnt slip and die or whatever but people are always like oh thats so inappropriate.... its not inappropriate if the teacher isnt doing anything shady like idk why people think of these things as wrong. i mean i get it bc ppl are just thinking about how it can potentially go wrong

The problem is, "pedophile" is a much over and inaccurately used word, same with racisim and etc. According to how the word pedophile is used now a days, pretty much all men are pedophiles. (even though they're not).

Yes. It all comes down with age. You want to be sure your child is safe and knows how to bath properly. I bath with both my parents when I was little and there is nothing wrong it. I recommend stopping at the age of 5 or 6. Depending on the child.

I dont mind it, my parents both mom and dad have bathed me when i was small. And like others have said, there should be a point where parents stop bathing their kids.
