What's the deal with the high shipping costs?

I understand that 2 of the same items are heavier than 1 of the item but DOUBLE the shipping?

I can import 11 CD's from Japan for the $3-4 less than the cost of shipping for 2 small plushies from CR store, which ships within the US. 1 CD vis SAL is $5. 2 CD's via SAL is $7, not $10. 3 CD's via SAL is $9-10, not $15. I've got an open order from a website (not sure if I should link to it here) for 11 CD's for 1900 yen shipping (about $16.71 USD), from Japan, so the combined shipping discount increased at some point.

The USPS has standardized boxes that "if it fits, it ships" that I know will fit what I want to buy but the CR shipping total is a LOT more than that?

Shipping for 5 of those tiny head phone cats that were in the daily deal email from last month or so was $14 alone!

CR prices are hardly competitive to begin with before the shipping. I only go for the CR store exclusives but it is getting harder and harder with the shipping costs.

I am sure you will get a response specific to your questions on the pricing policies, etc - I thought I'd write to comment on my experience as fairly new to both the CR store and site. Originally, I paid perhaps $5 to $10 to purchase individual items such as figmas - but more recently, I noticed on the store page they list 'free shipping' code. So once I discovered that, I have made two purchases using the code for free shipping by meeting the minimum of $75.

The CR store wording is
"Free Shipping when you spend $75 or more with promo code: SHINJI75 (US addresses only) Your Premium Membership saves you on store purchases! Look for the crown to see your savings! "

I too have made some purchases including the daily deals, many of which have caught my eye

Thanks, but there isn't $75 worth I want to purchase at the moment.

I just want reasonable shipping for smaller orders.

If you buy frequently, or get several items, upgrading to Plus is supposed to give you free shipping on all products marked with the eligible symbol (if you're in the US).

You shouldn't need to use a code or make minimum purchases if the comparison page has it worded correctly.

By the month, it's $5 more for plus, or if you subscribed annually, where you pay up front, it's an additional $40 additional for plus (which works out to $3.33 per month)

Only you can do the math to see if that is worthwhile to you though.

This is only good if you're based in the US though. Canadian Plus members get 0 extra perks. The SHINJI75 code is also not available to us.

Sadly, shipping to Canada is as expensive as shipping to Europe (or pretty much anywhere in the world).

Not really, it depends on what carrier you use. I've forwarded packages across the border for as little as $10 USD.

You have to keep in mind that our parcels are trackable and insured. Non-trackable and non-insured would of course be cheaper.

It would be nice if in the future we could get to pick shipping options though.

That would mean though that any lost package would be the problem of the customer, rather than ours (or rather, the insurance's). It's not a good solution.
