For those old enough to have gotten a job.. have you ever been fired?
(If you've never had a job, you don't count.)
Posted 3/1/16
Nope. On all 4 of my previous jobs, I left voluntarily.

No, I haven't!

Nope but considering I have held a grand total of three jobs in my life and one of them is as a member of the CAF I never had much chance to be fired. And technically the other two count as the same job since I left the first job to join the army at 18.And when I chose to go into the reserves after my second tour and Canada ending it's combat mission I went back to the first job, only with a promotion and a pay increase.

Though honestly only losers and worthless sacks of shit preform so badly they get fired Though I hire in Japan nobody gets fired they just make you sit in a corner out of everyone's way if they think you deserve to be fired.

I've had a lot of different jobs...

I was let go from a job because they could no longer offer hours for me. I was 16, and it was my second job. I was fired from a job for being late. But I hated that job and was planning on quitting and entering college (which I did do). I was... 18.

The next two jobs I was let go from was because the company ceased to exist due to Chapter 13. I worked at Suncoast: The Store For Movie Lovers and Hollywood Rental. That was years and years ago. Like 2006 for one and 2009 for another. Haha.

I've been let go from three jobs and fired from one. I wouldn't say that I'm a loser or a worthless sack of shit who performed badly, though. The one time I got fired it was because my boss literally didn't like me and was looking for a legal reason to let me go. I did my job well, but I didn't take his shit and I didn't let him intimidate me. The one day my night stand alarm failed me was the day I was fired. Which worked out. I went to college and got my degree instead of staying and working at a underpaid factory job.

The three jobs I was let go from had to do with not enough hours being available, and the other two filed for chapter 13 and went out of business. These were all jobs I had while I was in college (aside from the one about hours -- that was high school).

So you're basically saying you failed to show up to work..Seems a legit reason to fire anyone in my mind and is utterly you're fault. I mean you really can't wake on your own?

I never said it wasn't my fault that I didn't wake up. It was a mistake and it's been the only time I've made the mistake -- haha. I'm merely saying that I don't believe that my one-time mistake that I made when I was 18 years old (12 years ago) would land me in the hole where all the losers and worthless sacks of shit hang out.

I'm not sure if you remember a time without cellphones -- heck, I didn't get my first one until about 5 years ago, and it was a silly flip phone. I didn't graduate to the smartphone class until I moved to Japan. Anyways, I digress. My little analogue alarm clock didn't go off in the morning and I woke up 20 minutes late. Thankfully due to the wonders of technology I can set more than one alarm now on one device. Back then you just owned more alarm clocks, which I didn't have more than one of.

Ya know mate I am only 2 years younger than you, might want to drop the whole old man routine. We grew up in the same world more or less. But I digress why do you need an alarm clock of any kind at all. Are you physically incapable of rising on your own. People have been waking on their own for tens of thousands of years with no need of any kind of aid other than a properly trained biological clock.

I do apologize. I never meant to offend you in any way with that remark.

Yes. I am incapable of willing myself to wake up at a specific time no matter what time I go to bed.

I completely understand where you're coming from. If I were in the same boat as them and had the ability to do that, and wake up at a specific time before the sun rose I do believe my life would be much more natural. But, that was then and this is now. I no longer have to wake up before the sun is up. Now-a-days I wake up before my alarm clock even goes off, so I don't need it.

Indeed. My very FIRST "job", actually. I had been given the Weekend off 3 Weeks in advance...So, I made plans with My Family. In comes shitty Grocery store Boss saying that they're in desperate need of Me to come in...I told them it was impossible...I'm already a State away with Family. Grocery Boss goes for broke saying...despite the fact that I'm TWO States away, that, "If I didn't get in there within the Hour, I'd have no Job to return to".

Hurrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Later Grocery Boss.

Is that, or Isn't that absolutely ridiculous?

Yep.
For failing to follow dangerous and stupid instructions.

Sadly, I have been let go once. It was while I was out on medical leave. My ever so polite manager(dripping sarcasm) was kind enough to call me over the phone and tell me I no longer a job to come back to. Fortunately he was soon replaced, and I received a call that I had been wrongfully terminated and could return. I suppose I could have made a huge deal of this, but I am just to passive for this. I was just happy to have a job to return to
