Maybe if enough people back it, they'll consider a season 2? But they certainly won't if they can't even sell season 1. I don't think the sales in Japan were that high.

unfortunately it's unlikely this will lead to a second season. Shoujo anime just don't often get made into anime as often or get second seasons when they do get made into anime.
This indiegogo project not about a second season however. The company Pied Piper obtained the rights to release it in America and TV Tokyo (the company who holds the rights) is requiring a dub. The indiegogo is to help cover the cost for the dubbing process, which is a large portion of the money they need for the release.

I am so tempted on either donating $30 or $60 because that really is the only thing on my budget right now.
I'm a huge fan of the anime, but man... expenses.

We have close to 200 people behind this campaign. Thank you, each and every one of you.

We are are united on a license rescue mission for Skip Beat!, one of the great shojo anime of all time.

Conventional wisdom says that Skip Beat! can't get enough fan support to fund a dub. Why? Because it is shojo, the story hinges on the female lead character, and there are no gimmicks - no magic, fantasy, scifi.

People look at the numbers for this campaign right now and say, "told you so."

BUT!

The news about this campaign is still spreading. We are just getting started. On Friday, an interview with me on ANNCast will go live. Righstuf is now this campaign's official partner for shipping and fulfillment of the rewards, which opens up cross promotion opportunities. I have a good relationship with the awesome folks at Crunchyroll, and I am aiming to create more opportunities for them to share news of this campaign. Our amazing dub team is spreading the word. Every day I am working to build new alliances for this campaign.
Many people who know about the campaign are watching and waiting because of the Flexible Funding and high goal. I hear you on that. I am working hard to address both of these concerns.
What else can we do? How can we bring on more people to champion and share our cause? How can we grow our numbers by 2x, 5x, or even 10x? I want your ideas, your battle cries. Please post your inspirations (sane and crazy ones alike!) in the comments or email me at [email protected]

Let's defy all expectations. Kyoko wouldn't have it any other way.

Of all things... this?

Can they do Story of Saiunkoku, though? Saiunkoku is like Yona and Snow White with the Red Hair, which are popular now, but Saiunkoku is a thousand times better. The first season got licensed and dubbed and now it's out of print, second season got nothing, and of course we need not even mention the LNs.

There are plenty of others. It's good to see overlooked titles from the past 15 years getting some of the love that older overlooked things have gotten recently.

Yup. I'm closing this thread now to avoid confusion. There's a more recent thread about the Kickstarter here:

I started watching, and I'm not sure what to think of it.
