Not obsessed, but I do enjoy their anime, manga, music, and history. Western animation in general just isn't as good as it used to be and usually only ranges from childish humor to adult humor, save a few exceptions. I don't really know much about the comics scene but at bookstores I checkout the comics/graphic novels, a large percentage of comics are alternate world versions of Batman, Superman, etc.

I'm not a fan of most J-Pop artists, but J-Rock bands on the other hand are great. It ranges from music like Wagakki Band to One OK Rock to Hormone the Maximum and I enjoy listening to it almost as much as Rock and it's sub genres. I also like the fact that Japan maintains their cultural heritage to an extent and hasn't completely "westernized" themselves in terms of historical clothes, architecture, mythology, and certain customs.

Again, I wouldn't call it obsessed or anything, just a strong appreciation.

The only real obsession I'd say I have is with the food, everything else (technology, pop culture, etc.) would be tied for second.

Most everything about it. I love the way the language works, and how different and alien their culture is from standard western views. I also really like anime. Last time I had a long weekend I watched around 50 episodes. Plus, they have Pocky.

Religion
The Japanese have adapted elements of foreign religions and made them their own.
The Hindu god Ganesha is worshiped as Kangiten in Japan.

Catholic missionaries introduced tempura to the island.

I like anime, but that's pretty much it. Their culture is strange, their music is terrible, the food is nasty, the cities are overcrowded, I could go on...

Not saying I wouldn't visit, I do want to see Japan some day. But it's not near the top of my list.

Food! I loooove Japanese food.

Oh, and the culture itself is very unique and nice. I'm going back to Japan again soon, and I'm excited. I love it there. People are very kind, food is wonderful, shopping is nice. Although food is def my number one.

i do like manga, anime, and their music, also their language but not really obsessed. just like. because for me obsessed means you will think so much about something, try hard to search what news about that and learn it. so thats not me. yeah sometime i do that thing but not often.
I was more obsessed with their kimonos. i really wanted to wear it someday ><

Not too obsessed either, but I think it looks nice and I also like the Japanese swordsmithing or Pagoda towers over there (I heard they're earthquake resistant) over there.

Food, anime, language, and fashion for the most part. I also like learning about etiquette, art, law systems, and a bunch of other stuff too. I took a Japanese culture course last semester at college and I loved it. The topics were fun and I learned so much! Like the obsession with surgery masks and a weird love for standing in lines is pretty Japanese lol And VENDING MACHINES. To talk about vending machines for 2 and half hours was hilarious. And the themed hotels. I like a lot of things about Japan xD
