I wouldn't characterize it as an obsession, but I like anime, and Japanese food, especially ramen.

Outside of anime, manga, and video games, the Japanese have a colorful and fascinating history and culture. Their folklore, their architecture, their history, their food, their music. Not to mention Japanese movies, I love the works of Akira Kurosawa as well as more recent Japanese directors like Takashi Miike (who I actually saw in person at the Venice Film Festival in 2010).

I agree with you wholeheartedly.

While I lived in Seoul, Korea for 18 months I made many 3 day trips to Tokyo & Kyoto
as well as a bus trip to a couple of remote villages. I love the many temples and historic "castles".
But, one time I entered a very small village and encountered an anti-American hatred left over from
earlier days. They also didn't like me taking pics around the village. I had to beg for sanctuary at the local shrine.
After they confirmed my story, I was given a scooter ride back to "civilization". This one bad experience
didn't sour me on the Japanese people.

I love anime, history, culture, food, the advanced swords, cameras, cars and motorcycles.

Well as a guy I also loved spending time with the girls. Mainly the university girls as they were very friendly.

Anime, Fashion, and Harems. Seriously. I think Japan will be the first Westernized country to legalize Harems. And suddenly the Japan's population problem will no longer exist.

I am not sure that calling it an obsession would be accurate, but I am thoroughly enjoying anime, manga, and many forms of Japanese art. I also tend to like Japanese horror films and the cuisine as well. I won't claim to know too very educated in the subjects, but I have several friends who have discussed their religious views and cultural practices with me, which I also find fascinating. In general, I just feel like there is much to be learned from various cultures and can always appreciate the differences.

I like all sorts of animation no matter where they originate so me watching anime isn't an obsession with Japanese stuff. I've seen enough American animation and British ones. I've even seen some French stuff and a few from other countries.

We went to 2 cons, Asian cultural fest, Chinese restaurant, Asian plaza that had stores and an eastern pharmacy. You guys gotta do some fund raising. We had a dance and sold popcorn. Also you gotta get the new 9th graders interested. We got our librarian to order manga and we have gaming days. That way you can appeal to more people. We are about to celebrate 1year on March 29th

Anime, because it is the new wave of entertainment and story telling. World wide mind you.

J rock, and some J pop ill admit. I usually have a connection with good music. even languages that I dont understand I will somehow find a connection because of the music. Rammstein was probably my first introduction to something like that, though they are a German band, I find myself connecting with that language in terms of enjoyment, and I find myself singing along to the lyrics in German even though I dont really understand it. Thats the same with Japanese music, it is so upbeat and rhythmic that I always sing along to it. I find that their music is very optimistic and hopeful, very deep and meaningful, full of forethought. It is absolutely mesmerizing at times, and I just feel soo much more passion and drive. It is completely different from the music I listen to, but it is a new world of opportunity for me in terms of direction.

Culture and way of life. Respect, plain and simple. They respect their culture, and they respect their way of life. Everything they do is for a purpose, and everything they do has to be near perfect, but instead they only become better and better at what they do because of proper technique, discipline, and focus. A process that has taken shape and form over the years, and I for one simply obsess over it. I dont even know a dam thing about Japan, but I am so drawn to it that I find myself slowly reforming myself and giving myself proper discipline to correct my bad habits and life.

Wisdom. I dont care what anyone says, Japan is one of the wisest cultures and countries in the world, nothing you can say or do will change that fact I will voice. Everywhere there will be wise men and women that will teach you a lot about the world, but I have learned soo much from Japan, Anime to be specific, and Video games. they are simply stories of their culture and life being voiced through such means. Stories are simply the life that someone has experienced, or created, and I have obtained much knowledge from their way of life and culture. I have followed this way of life for some time now, always getting better and better at what I do, because I am always looking forward, I am always working towards what I think is perfection. Wisdom has changed me for the better.

"I would rather be a person who would sit by a nearby river or lake, and simply stare out into the far distance, watching the sky change with the passing time as the light from the sun begins to change slowly in brightness, contrast, and color, until I finally wait for that perfect moment. The moment when you can visualize what you have waited for. When I begin to look upon that moment I realize that it was my mind that accepted such a sight; that I simply wasn't waiting for that moment..... it just needed the time to fully come into perspective.

I never needed to wait for such a thing, because it was in my mind all along. The fact that we are happy when we look upon that moment only means that our happiness is a way in which defines us. If we can allow time to find our happiness; then we can allow ourselves to become a slave to our happiness. We work for what creates our happiness, We focus on what makes us happy.

So the only thing we need to do in this life is to allow our happiness to find others, no matter what gets in the way, no matter what kind of person we are; it is simply the person we will become that makes life worth living for. Like every ripple in the water we wait for the calm, That is when we can mirror ourselves to reflect our true self and being, carrying with us the image of what we believe to be our moment....... Wisdom is never the correct response, It is simply the journey one has put into perspective for others to accept, and follow
"

Take me as you will, Wisdom will never cease to amaze me; no matter what Logic says. I would rather understand the world than understanding the Constant. Nobody can fully understand the world, which makes my journey to find perfection forever and endless, and in time I will become a voice for such a world........ For all that I have done, I must work to become the right to my wrongs, no matter how long it takes, being wise makes me happy, So I share it

I guess i am a little fascinated with how they have lots of places that are for Japanese people only and so little immigration.

I am a bit fascinated at the combination of culture and tradition/history and also the modern Japan/technology. And how they are so westerized in ways yet so proud and pure and traditional and closed off at the same time.

Seemingly friendly yet racist at the same time. etc
