This is the first time I've found an anime that I rush home to watch and talk about and discuss on forums like this and I've heard from some sources that the anime is only going to be 12 episodes long without a second season anyone know if this is true?

The mangaka said the anime will end the way the currently unfinished manga will end, so I'd assume there will be no second season.

I didn't know the manga was unfinished will it ever be finished? or did the company creating it go bankrupted?

Of course it will. It's just the anime will go a little further ahead before the manga is finish.

I haven't read the manga but judging by the way things have been going there won't be another season. If there was another season what would it be about?

Well I feel like since it took about 6 episodes (depending on how you look at things) to save hanazuki and now there are 2 other people to save I know the situations are different (the other two's lifestyles) which could play a difference in how long it would take to be sure they were saved..

I guess if it takes just as long to save the other two then it'll probably get renewed for a second season to finish up what happens, but like you said the circumstances are different. To our knowledge neither of them have a life as harsh as Hanazuki's and one is already friends with Satoru and as long as he can keep them safe until he can catch and convict that murderer it shouldn't take 6 more episodes. Then again the ninth episode ended with that girl who hated Hanazuki doing something so who knows. Either way if it ends ups with needing another season to finish it I'd be sort of pissed. It shouldn't take twice as long for another girl who (to our knowledge) isn't getting treated like Hanazuki was. We'd also have to wait at least 2-3 seasons too and that would suck

Isn't the manga just ends? I think the anime will conclude in 1 season.

Yes, the anime will end at 12 episodes with the same ending as the manga.

Yes, the manga has also ended.

But the author is going to do a spinoff.

So I had to see what Gaiden means

The April issue of Kadokawa's Young Ace magazine revealed on Friday that Kei Sanbe will begin serializing a spinoff of his Boku dake ga Inai Machi manga in the magazine's July issue on June 4. The spinoff is tentatively titled Boku dake ga Inai Machi Gaiden.[

GAIDEN

The use of gaiden is commonly used in popular Japanese fiction to refer to a spin-off of a previously published work that is neither officially considered a sequel nor a prequel. However, some gaiden are retold stories in the perspective of a different character, similar to that of a flashback.

Personally I think that they will pull a second season out of their rears. I cant see how them destroying the series by suddenly cramming the remaining chapters into three episodes.

If there is a second season, it would probably adapt the Gaiden manga. I could see Gaiden being the story of what happens in the 18 years between the time when Kayo, (and presumably) Hiromi, and Aya were saved, and the present. Even though the case was solved, there's a lot that goes on in the 18 years in between.
