I sorta bumped into a random link in a random forum somewhere. A cautionary tale, be as it may:

http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2012/05/2_men_sentenced_in_cumberland.html

After reading that unfortunate article, I did a google search... Which more than confirmed my immediate suspicions

https://www.google.com/search?q=pennsylvania+white+trash

People behave badly just about everywhere. I don't really understand the urge to act as if specific regions are especially deserving of one's disapprobation.

Road rage = adult temper tantrum. Was watching one of those most shocking or cops shows on Youtube yesterday and this jerk who's going way too fast swerves over into a different lane and cuts this guy off but the guy who was speeding thinks he's the one who got cut off so he slams on his brakes and comes shooting out of his car with a stick or tire iron and walking with his chest all puffed out like he's a bada#$ or something and the guy in the other car who has the whole thing on tape steps out with his gun drawn and orders him to get on the ground. The dude was a cop. I bet next time Mr. Roadrage decides to be all macho he'll remember his last arrest. I love me some good Karma.

I don't get how any adult can throw a fit in public over anything. Road rage is just an excuse to act like a big fat baby. I saw a person throw a huge fit the other day in the store. I was waiting for them to just drop to the ground and start banging their head on the ground while kicking their hands and feet. It would not have surprised me one bit. I'm sure the customer who was throwing the fit probably got a free gift card or some other reward since businesses are too pathetic to actually say NO to this sort of behavior. The more you reward them or let them get away with that type of behavior the more they do it. Be an ahole and get a free gift card. Ridiculous.

While that's true, the particulars of this story has the sort of "right" (or "wrong") kind of trashiness about it that puts it over the top of the "normal" kind of trash. Therefore, the google search...

I would put those in an almost "normal" bell-shaped range of craziness... At least they didn't start a fire or something (or DID THEY)

One of the google search results was indeed the Urban Dictionary entries for "Pennsyltucky"

I never even heard of that until last night

Nice town names.

I wonder if the people behind the Road Kill Cafe jokes were from PA...

I know that Tim Heidegger and Eric Wareheim's comedy stylings were influenced by their Pennsylvania milieu, especially public-access channels. Being from the same area, it's easy to tell.

It happens everywhere, really... not sure what'll stop it, unless we start using dashcams or roofcams on all our vehicles and make sure they're recording while on the road. In Russia, it appears to be a standard practice now. Something for use in the courtroom, in case of insurance fraud, but it might also help in cases like our road rage babies. (Good way to describe them, BTW.)

Pennsyltucky exists, but it's not all of Pennsylvania. Not that the urban/suburban areas are much better, just twisted in that special Pennsylvanian way. Like how Philadelphia is the city of brotherly love but their sports fans are notorious for burning shit down and beating up the fans of the opposing team.

As with anything, generalizing creates a false image and perspective of a place and people from that place. The forests are beautiful. I've met a lot of wonderful, friendly people. I've even met lots of "white trash" who have much more humbling and insightful things to say about life than most college-educated 'intellectuals.'
