So, I'm working on a novel that would need research but I want to know how much. What do you think aboout it?

Ahh well it depends on what you need to research. If you're writing anything to do with culture, different languages, or history, you really need it to be accurate, because otherwise some people will get offended and make [email protected] negative comments about it. If it's a fictional universe, people will most likely be more forgiving, though it would help to make it believable.

as for the actual question, depends on how complex the story/plot is. obviously, more research is needed if the plot makes heavy use of scientific stuff (example: Steins;Gate)

Like TotalQuirk said, it really depends on what you're writing about. I remember one book I was writing I had to do a crap ton of research about Hypothyroidism since one of my characters had it. I always say the more research the better, but if you don't have a lot of time I would just research until you feel like you understand it enough to be able to confidently write about it.
