We all know there are some.... okay, a LOT of anime that aren't as faithful to their source material. Whether it's because the manga series continued beyond the anime's scope (a common occurrence), or because of some creative differences between the author and anime producers/directors, there are some anime that have suffered in quality control and have become less than they could've possibly been. Any series come to mind that you'd like to see become re-adapted and given the full treatment like FMA: Brotherhood has received?

My personal list:

Love Hina
The anime misses SO MUCH of how great the manga was and relies far too heavily on Keitaro's slapstick antics. It also has some messy rewritten stories which leaves more plot holes, and creates some ridiculously melodramatic scenes, ie. Shinobu's first kiss. Even worse, you never really know who the Promise Girl is. The manga not only ties up every character arc (even Haruka's!), you finally find out who the true Promise Girl is and have a very satisfying ending. I would pay whatever they ask for if this series could get re-adapted.

GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka
Another classic manga that suffers from awful quality control in the anime. The animation was dreadful (aside from the opening and closing sequences), some characters were re-written, and there's so many plot holes towards the end. The soundtrack was awfully cheesy and poor quality as well. Come on Anime industry, GTO is a classic and has the possibility to cross cultural boundaries better than the average anime. Give it the quality it truly deserves.

Mahou Sensei Negima
Ah, a lot of people are gonna request this one, I'm sure of it. The first anime series takes the cuteness a little too far, and gives us a horribly forced, mind-numbing ending. The second series goes completely in a different direction and was hard for me to follow. The only, ONLY anime adaptations that did the series justice were the OVAs of the Mahora Festival and their adventures to Mundus Magicus. WHY WEREN'T THERE MORE OF THESE!?! The animation, the story, it was all FANTASTIC and true to the source material! Negima had so much potential, yet these differences in direction and production squandered everything it could've been.

I know there's more, and I'll post them when they come to mind. Unless you guys get it first.

Zatch Bell - so that it can have a proper, non-filler ending. And bring back all the same voice actors.

Rurouni Kenshin - same reason as above.

The one show that I would live a reboot of the most would be Rave Master. The manga is amazing, but the anime barely scratched the surface of the story and didn't really tell the story all that well. If there is going to be one, it will take about 150 episodes to adapt the whole thing, and seeing that Fairy Tail has been a smash hit that it's possible that Rave Master could get the Hunter x Hunter treatment.

Yes. Basically connect the dots with the Chao Lingshen arc and Ala Alba special OVAs. Those are the only true adaptations of Negima that currently exist.

To reaffirm my reply, these are scenes from the Negima OVAs that got it right. Compare anything from the first and second series, and I guarantee they don't ever measure up in quality and intensity. These are the AMAZING moments from the manga that we've never been able to have in the first and second series adaptations. And sadly I don't know if we'll ever see them again.

Yes I agree with Rave Master. Having seen both the TV series and reading the manga years later, I definitely find that there's a gap in enjoyment.

Elfen Lied needs a re-adaptation. Same with Claymore from the top of my head.

I want to see Trigun but not like something to replace what Trigun is. I would love to see Soul Eater redone as well. I would have loved to have seen the Pokémon Adventures manga as an anime because of how dark it is but I know it would never happen. I would love to see a continuation of Zombie Loan but that's not going to happen either. I want them to be there own things. Also I get the feeling Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece would be a lot better if they weren't so long and slow because of filler.

Rosario+Vampire and Tenjho Tenge are my two I fell in love with both the mangas, but the animes went so south in development not great at all

on a side note I want to see more manga and light novels finished in their entirety for their anime counterparts, just so sick of seeing many end after a brief stint, just to improve book sales and sadly not all of the titles that are made available subbed english even have a translated manga or light novel available for purchase

One I would like to see redone is Planetes. Better and more beautiful art would greatly enhance the show. It's great now, but could be better.

Not so much a wish for a reboot but more of a wish for continuation, but what about "Gantz"? Why did the anime end with closure while the manga went on with many more volumes? It could have been at least a four season show.

Cardcaptor Sakura. And it needs a better one than Sailor Moon Crystal...

Also... it's not originally a manga, and the adaptation wasn't anime, but there is a manga, and it deserves an anime, so I'm just going to put it here anyway : Cirque du Freak / The Saga of Darren Shan (manga based on UK novel series, but it's still a manga, so...)

Claymore
Tokyo Ghoul
Flowers of Evil
Elfen Lied
Spice & Wolf (Original was great, but a Reduex to cover everything without skipping volumes would be all I want in life)
Pandora Hearts

There's so many more, but I can't think of them at the moment.
