I would think someone with a psychology major would be enthralled at reading what people have to say. Should people in psychology be observers and analyzers instead of judging the subjects? I mean wow. If I was the professor, I have failed my student.

The OP just made it the equivalent to an ER doctor being disgusted at the sight of blood.

Why not contribute and make the threads you cry about not having? It's truly a simple solution, you want specific types of threads, correct? That's why the "New Topic" button exists.

Well, examining the threads, from a quick check of the profile ages is the whole POINT of analyzing the threads on GD--
(And again, that's General Discussions, as opposed to the Anime Forum, where we discuss the new streaming series that only half the readers have managed to keep up with yet.)

When we shift the 18-24 demographic into more of the 14-21 demo, it reveals a lot of insights into that Ericksonian stage where adolescence searches for identity--fearing they'll "lose it forever" if they never find it right now--and has only their "secret weapon" of their desktop or personal electronics to seek it out with...Where is it found?:
- Is it found in political activism? ("Gay marriage just banned in Fredonia! People up in arms against dictator Firefly!")
- Is it found in an illusion of being Relevant, and parroting every single news headline as they come down the wire, to see what discussion results on their one target site?
- Is it found in trolling, and the resignation that if one is going to be hated, one might just as well dictate the terms of HOW one can be hated?
- Is it found in the first abstract stirrings of Deep Thoughts and Spiritualism ("So, like, what's your Meaning of Life?" "Have you ever realized that 'Dog' is 'God' spelled backwards?")
- Is it found in trying to shake some abstract idea of "authority" up with clinging to mischievous immaturity they're afraid to leave behind? ("Who else here likes to make armpit noises?")
- Is it found in real-world loneliness united by the no-consequence virtual conversations and anonymity of social-media small-talk, as a sort of training-wheels practice for personal interaction, but with all the safe distance of a video game? ("Tell me what you just thought five minutes ago.")

So, not "silly", but...."pity" might be the right word from those of us who managed to make it out of that stage in one piece, move out of the dorm rooms, and finally get that sense of identity with that first apartment. Now, to all the other posters still wrestling with all those hormones, we sort of get to be like the inspirational high-school teachers on all those 70's TV shows.
(I get to be Mr. Kotter--Julie, did I ever tell you about my uncle Irving and his pet shop?)

Hi Crunchyroll forum people.

I was just wondering: what's up with all the random threads? I mean, seriously. The kinds of questions being posted in the discussions right now just seem silly. I'm not going to name them off, because that wouldn't be nice--but can someone please tell me that I'm not alone in finding the subjects really weird and immature?
Are you guys really that bored?
Or are you all just kids or something?
Or strange lonely adults?
It's called google--it's easy and straightforward. Ask your special little questions there, I'm sure it will be edifying. lol

--Anyway. Why can't we all make a concerted effort to actually discuss things that are interesting? Why doesn't anyone want to talk about like...maybe what you thought the meaning of a certain anime was/you have a theory about your favorite manga or anime etc. etc. Like, productive conversation please. Not these idiotic personal questions. Please. Because I'd love to contribute to conversations. But I can literally name an innumerable amount of things that I'd rather do more than participate in a thread about if I fold my socks, or a thread about racism that could have easily just been asked to google instead, out of respect for others.

That's it. It seems like a lot of the threads lack respect for other people.

Like...can't we at least stay on the topic of this website? Must we get all creepily intimate with the questions? It's really strange and seems desperate and honestly makes me wonder why people do these things. Is it loneliness? What's going on people? Why don't you say what you want to say instead of making random threads you don't even care about? Just spit it out and talk to us instead of diverting the issue. Just saying <3

I'm a psychology major, so excuse me for being curious but...this seemed like a more interesting thread that actually tries to answer a real question about all of our interactions here on these forums. Because none of those threads about random stuff are productive at all. Why is it so hard to ask people to talk to you? Honesty is always better than subversion. Well, if that's even what you're after. I have no idea. And that's why I'm posting this thread.

peace, mVIII's~

Oh great, ANOTHER gripe about silly threads! Just introduce and moderate serious threads and show the way.
