It doesn't matter.

My workplace is pretty dangerous so the places I visit seem tame by comparison.

I go on solo hikes quite often and despite the dangers, I feel fairly safe out there. The only things that worry me out there in the wilderness are running into someone scary (think the film Deliverance) or falling/lost (think 127 hours). We have bears and mountain lions in my local mountains, but I don't worry too much about them, animal attacks are extremely rare.

Well.... I've traveled a lot and lived in a bunch of different places, and how safe I feel really depends on where I am. Where I live right now I feel extremely safe.

It depends on where I am. The movie theater is where I am at by myself the most, waiting on friends, and there are actually some freaky people at the mall where it is. I don't feel safe waiting there.

I used to feel safer before all the refugees and "undocumented" aliens moved in.

Somewhat, but not so much in particular parts of the city I live. A few years back I had computer coding classes that were located in the center of a cluster of skyscrapers and buildings. You had to take a long, very tight alleyway to get to it. They would open up around corners, into the back of businesses. Sometimes people hang around there, and when I was leaving a man followed me out. He was wearing a hood and walking strange, looked intoxicated and asked me for money. I told him that I didn't have any and he scoffed that I had nice shoes to not have any. Luckily the alleyway opened up onto the main street where there was a ton of people around, he went the opposite way.

I also took a roadtrip with some friends once and a truck full of guys started harassing us on a long stretch of road. We were able to get into the next town before we felt a bit more safer.

I do go places by myself but I'm always alert. Holding my things close, like a purse or backpack, I carry a switchblade and mace with me. When I'm out camping, I have a hunting blade with me with some first aid.

Stay safe!

Honestly yes, why stay at home and fear the unknown? If that were the case then we would still be living in caves. Get out there and enjoy life, or else you may end up regretting it later on.
