Is that that second childhood thing I've heard so much about. When you don't care again.

Hmm, I don't know. I mean, fanservice is what is says: it's service for the fans, which also means it's not just limited to sexual imagery. Even then I feel it can be used tastefully; take Psycho Pass for example. I think there's a scene where the main character is in her underwear in her bedroom. You could argue that's fanservice, the viewers get to see her in panties and a bra, but it's not gratuitous, it just feels like it fits the scene in a way that makes sense. I think fanservice is okay supposing it's handled properly, it's when you have a serious scene and all the camera angles are panty shots and the like that it starts to get on my nerves a little.

I wouldn't want it to disappear completely because in some cases it betters an experience, I just feel that it's used immaturely a bit too often like 'Hey, let's have the guy fall on the girls boobs. Bewbz are gr8, amirite gaiz?'. It's like gore. Sometimes it can be used to enhance the brutality of a scene, but there are times where not showing it can have arguably more impact, like when you just hear a gunshot as the camera shows the outside of the building or something. It doesn't have to be really in-your-face all the time. It's a tool to be utilised, and much like any physical tool, you can't use it to fix every problem. So how would I feel? It's a bit of a mix. On the hand I feel it would be a bit more restrictive, I mean, I'm not one for taking away ideas that can be used positively. On the other hand, I'd be interested to see how it changes up the shows we get each season as a whole, since it would become harder to depend on the financial success of shows which rely on fanservice to bring in viewers.

I would be unhappy about it. Not as much as i once would have. But anime wouldn't be anime if it were completely gone.
I agree in some anime it is over done.

I think i would be just as, or probably more unhappy about the factor of censorship, political correctness, the do gooder whingers and whiners who complained and ruin it it for everyone else side of it than the factor of having no fan service itself.

Fun police, do gooders and feminists ruin everything and if this were to happen it would be just another example.
Dont like fan service? dont watch the animes that are loaded with it.

" Dont like fan service? dont watch the animes that are loaded with it." <- Obvious

The thing is you got series that shouldn't even have fan service and they feel the need to add an underwear shot in there somewhere...i mean it bothers me but not enough to not watch it but the anime would have been better off WITHOUT that unneeded fanservice.

Sometimes fan service just has no reason to be there and i would love to be able to watch some pg-ma rated Anime without fan service but thats nearly impossible

That's an unfair statement, because most of the time, you never know what anime has fan service in it until it airs.

nah, the fan service adds an extra appeal, if a good plot can be achieved as well, it makes for a dank anime.

This is not always the case. It's rare for fan service to be "needed as part of the plot device." Most shows don't need fan service, but it's thrown in anyway. That's when it feels "forced, out of place, and distracting."

I took it as him saying stuff like DxD and other Ecchi shows but you are right with both things you said.

You don't see it in ERASED, yet people don't avoid it because there is none.

As long as the plot is good and things are done right, then I don't care much. Its not like I'm attracted to it myself mostly anyway. I think most people complain because some anime is pretty much all fanservice and no good plot.
