Ooh yes, I have an exquisite 30 dollar katana collection I have up in display, I sometimes use it to slice empty water bottles. If I'm feeling really fancy, I throw a soda can up in the air for a moving target.

I am soldier I lived and the camel jockey's died by my weapons. My personal favorite of my collection will always be the C14 Timberwolf all other rifles are shit compared to her. A silken smooth bolt , velvety cocking action, recoil like a lover's kiss, and that report echo like a horny angel with each trigger pull.

I don't trust people who obsess over knives and guns over the internet

But yeah, to answer your question, nope. I do own a baseball bat tho in case of emergency.

Yes, I do own firearms. I don't hunt, but I like to go to the range and just shoot targets.

I'm neither an American nor a hunter so I think guns are foolish.

I like blades as well as history so I would probably have some broadswords and katanas if I had the money to spare.

The hypocrisy of, in two sentences, belittling an entire nation because your opinion is that one piece of steel designed for lethality is foolish, while another chunk of steel designed for lethality is awesome and "history".

You know, because firearms were *totally* never part of historical events, nor masterworks of artistry and craftsmanship. I mean, it's not like I've ever seen one in an art museum or anything.

Oh, wait. I have. Many, many times.

The hypocrisy is delicious. So, so delicious.

You're entitled to your opinion, but dude...

...but yes, edged weapons are classy. Here's some of mine:

Still need to get my brayettes and voiders, though (chainmail shorts and sleeve pieces that protect the areas where the plate cannot, due to the joints)

I also have an Italian polehammer, Burgundian poleax, German boar spear, Danish axe, Viking hewing spear, grossemesser, early 16th century Rhinelander sword, katzbalger, rondel dagger, and a couple halberds.

I'm an antique weapons person I guess. I love the design of old guns, the "look how rich I am" swords, axes and spears but I don't have guns and I don't want to have (modern) guns.

I think you mean "seppuku". Sudoku is a crossword-puzzle-like numbers puzzle.

"That guy" is me.

As to the stance, you cannot (CANNOT) cut through plate armor with a sword (no, not even a katana -.- ). It is pointless to try. Instead, you use the sword like a short spear and try to thrust into the weak points around the joints or vision slit, or (since that's hard to do against an opponent who is actively defending himself!), you use the sword as a lever to throw him off his feet, break his arm, or tear his weapon from his hands.

However, most of the sword's weight is in the grip end, so you CAN use it fairly effectively as a hammer to stun the opponent (or possibly knock him out), or damage the joints of his armor so they don't move right. It's called the "mordschlag", and means the "lethal strike"

Yes, fighting manuals from the later middle ages still exist. Mostly they're 15th-16th century; that page is from a 1630s-era compendium of 15th-century manuals (some of which are now lost).

You can find scans of many of the surviving manuals (with translations in most cases) on http://wiktenauer.com/
