What would you do, or say if someone told you that you are too old for Anime?

I'd pretty much react like this^

"For the last time, I'm not watching anime to get close to teenage girls!"

"You're never too old for anything of the sort." Though I wouldn't make an argument out of it, to each their own.

Tbh, I think that Animations in general is incredible. Even now, as an adult I'm finding new ways to enjoy the cartoons, & Anime I've seen, or have yet to see. Anime shouldn't be looked at as something only kids should like. Joking aside, when I'm faced with this question I usually use Ghibli movies as examples.

These movies tend to get the message across that Anime can have something for anyone, at any age.

my mom has said this to me in a public place in the manga section of a book store... She told me some otaku like me turned around immediately, and stared her down.

I'm a tax-paying adult, I'll spend my money however I want. But thanks for your unnecessary opinion.

Heh I'd say I am "too old" for anime according to some people, but I'm also well beyond the age where I give an F about what others think of my choices in entertainment. It's my money and my leisure time so I'll use it how I choose.

I simply say so. I'm enjoying my life. Being adult is tiring and too much work most of the time. I also was told this by my mom, but with cartoons. I said you never too old for cartoons.

I'll never understand people who say that. Anime is its own medium, comprised of creations made for all ages and demographics of people. If you're going to say someone is too old for anime, then out of sheer principal you have no choice but to claim all film and television shows are something you have to outgrow as well. The idea that moving drawings are just for kids in this day and age is nothing more than a display of ignorance and stubborness. All-in-all it's an archaic mindset that'll eventually die out, just like the idea that you can be too old for videogames.

If you enjoy something, the only person who gets a say in whether or not you've outgrown it is you, just like every other past-time in existence. The day I'm too old to enjoy life the way I want to enjoy it will be a sad day, but not one I'll let be decided by others, at least not over something as trivial as what I watch on a screen in the privacy of my own home, bringing no harm to anyone. I think it says something when we live in a world where adults can eat rusks, a food commonly associated with babies, and logically agree that they enjoy the taste and nothing's wrong with that, but watching a show that is, by law rated 18+, is something you can be too old for just because there are drawings instead of real people. How does that even happen?!

Entertainment is entertainment, and you can never outgrow being entertained.
