Well, I have use to have social anxiety and have trouble putting myself out there.

Anyways, I met this very nice guy on mmorpg and basically he mentored me LOL. One of the best advice I've received from him was, go put yourself in most awkward situations and don't give a shyt.

That's pretty bad advice actually, if you put yourself in awkward situations you are portraying yourself as an awkward person

I guess I poorly worded it but it more like take a risk even though it'd be awkward. Usually awkward situations help you to grow since you learn from it lol.

That's what I perceived it as.

Oh.. yea, it's good to take risks, but you may as well be yourself while you're doing it

Very good advice. I was in the same boat and was very shy and had a lot of social anxiety. Still do to some extent but someone once told me to just fake it. If you lack confidence in certain situations then just pretend you do. Everyone is shy to some extent. Even the biggest extrovert's out there get a little bit shy around a new person or a girl/boy they may really like but the difference is that they don't let it keep them from doing what they want. So little by little I just started pretending like I was confident in social situations. Instead of walking with my eyes glued to the concrete I'd look around and meet people's eyes when talking to them. Speaking of talking to them I started making myself talk to more people. Even if it was just to say hello to a clerk or something. I just started pretending like I was confident and wouldn't you know it I eventually started gaining more and more confidence. Basically I faked it until I didn't have to anymore. Every so often I have trouble but I push through it now. That was some of the best advice I've ever received and I really wish I could find and thank the person who helped me out so much.

I was at a terrible time in my life, and someone quoted Friedrich Nietzsche to me: "If thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee." It changed everything for me. I wrote it down on a sticky note and placed it on the wall of my room. That piece of paper, those words; built fortitude around me when I stood in front of them. I learned a lot about myself in that time.

don't eat/drink before surgery

i think that's the best one because that's the only one that actually would save my life.

My girlfriend broke up with me after a two year relationship, and I wasn't handling it very well. So I ended up venting to a friend. She told me, "Don’t worry, there’s plenty of fish in the sea." Well that cheered me up a bit...it made me laugh by how "corny" it was, and I never thought I would actually hear that phrase.

“As time goes on, you'll understand. What lasts, lasts; what doesn't, doesn't. Time solves most things. And what time can't solve, you have to solve yourself.”Haruki Murakami

Gotta love Haruki Murakami.

Nietzsche rules, but then again so what?

Words are power. Music lyrics, literature, film/television lines, public speaking. Advice, no matter its source, is information. Taking a quote from someone who's been through the abyss, would know. I just think that kind of philosophy is empowering.
