I'd say I'm an adult and I like anime and periodically enjoy a day off in PJs watching anime or reading a good book.

What is the context your folks said this in? It might help enlighten us about the situation.

I just went through a very similar discussion on another thread.

If it's your life, your money, your enjoyment, you are happy, then go for it.

Not at all, you're doing something you enjoy on your day off, if they truly have an issue with it, it their problem not yours.

I'm technically an adult, but I don't feel like it. There's nothing wrong with doing something you enjoy.

Why would it be a bad thing? (That you did a marathon but I guess why would you not have more confidence if you are 28?)
But did they say it because of what you watched and what did you maybe watch at the time?

So long this does not apply onto others (as some do).

^ Yep.

If you're working and supporting yourself I don't see why its a problem let alone anyone's business if you wanna binge out on anime on a day off. It'd be different if you were ditching responsibilities to your family/kids or something. But if its just you, pajamas and Crunchy Roll who cares?

You seem like a responsible adult with their life in order and are in no way dependent on others to carry you through life. I think that's all that matters in making one mature in the sense of the topic. Hobbies and such are your own personal interests and you have a right to like whatever you want.

You should be watching the golf channel and price is right if you want them to think you are an adult.
also you need to have it on least 2 hours everyday and be recording it on a old VHS, a dvr or dvd does not count.

Tell your parents they need to mind their own business.

That's parents though . It's not about knowing what's best or right but just wanting what's best . Sometimes they don't know when they're not needed. My parents still treat me like a child most of the time but it's just because I don't think they ever truly stop seeing us as their children.
