My dad showed me a raccoon 15 years ago when he showed me and my brother our first ever raccoons just hanging around in a tree in our backyard.

He told us that they are potentially dangerous animals that are known to possibly carry rabies, fleas, and other nasty things. he told us to stay respectably away from them. If you did that, they would not attack you.

If I ever saw one on my front door, I'd take a picture of it, and never open the door for it.

It's cute, ya, but it's still a wild animal with an unpredictable temperament. Besides, in some parts of my town, those things are dime a dozen, along with skunks, deer, turkeys, rabbits, and other woodland animals.

Will say this though, better then a badger or a black bear. Or hell forbid, way out in the boonies, a grizzly, black hornets, or THEM ANNOYING SCREECH OWLS!

I ran into a Wyoming landowner on an Antelope hunt who had that kind of "Kat"... They found it when it was pretty young so it was pretty easy to get it used to people. Friendly little guy was quite docile and the woman raved about what a good pet it was. The only thing is that they had to give it both canine and feline rabies vaccines...

Cuddly little bugger.

Scare it away...It probably pooped on my balcony, again. I live on the second floor. It has to climb up a pillar and take a nice poo right in the same spot under my chairs every time. They haven't come around since I dumped cayenne pepper in that spot, but still, I know it's only a matter of time before they return.

I would be an idiot and try to help it. I saw three of them together on top of a roof looking very cute to say the least.
