I'm making this because I'm so annoyed and confused and I don't know how to fix my phone. No helpful searches came up with google and I'm kind of upset because my phone isn't set up with the cloud and hasn't been backed up in over two years...

Basically my phones touch screen, home button, and on/off button started working randomly. It only turns on sometimes when I plug it in, but 90 percent of the time it glitches out. Every time I hit the on/off button the screen goes white (no apple logo just white) and then turns black (completely off). After this the on/off button works maybe once or twice, and at this point will open up randomly if I click the home button (even though the screen still doesn't work). After all this if by some miracle the phone actually works it ends up going to a screen with only my background (no apps) and the slide bar halfway down the screen (also blank).

Someone please help me. I couldn't care less about the actual phone but I do have some photos of sentimental value. I probably didn't explain that well so ask if more information is needed. Anyone that can help I'm eternally grateful

EDIT: the touch screen just started working long enough for me to type in my password and then glitch out again... siri turned on and I'm not even touching it.... it's officially haunted problem solved

What iphone do you have, and have you tried to contact Apple about the problems?

Seems like your phone is done for and you may need a new one.

i remember seeing things like this happening when people put iphone under water for a long time.
going to Apple store is your best bet to be honest.

Yikes. I can't offer any help, but I have moved this to the Advice, Info, Recommendations forum.

Do you have a local Apple store you can take it to?

I've never put my phone in water or dropped it all too hard to cause a problem.

not quite the same, but the issue seems similar. people suggested taking the device apart and clean the area (small debris between the button might be causing the problem. of course, if you are not confident in taking the device apart yourself, you'll have to rely on professionals. do NOT go to a local repair shop or best buy. i know it's far, but you should go to Apple store if you don't want to experience trouble (such as the phone refusing to work because it thinks you're using a 3rd party touch id when the guy from the local repair puts your phone back together after taking it apart)

someone also suggested that it could be due to cold weather. maybe you took the phone out in very cold weather (below operational temperature), but then returned to a warm place (such as your dorm / your home). it's possible that there were tiny drops of water condensed inside the phone, causing the phone to act erratically. no, putting the phone on rice will not work. assuming that the strange behavior is due to water moisture, you could try putting it near (but not too near) a warm source and wait until the phone dries out.
not guaranteed to work though.

I'd say contact Apple or go to a Apple store and see if they will be able to help you.

I know for sure it's not moisture because the little red light isn't on. It's stopped working in extremely cold temperatures but after a minute or two in my pocket it turns itself back on. Maybe some got between my screen, I just now am noticing that some type of debris is blocking the inside of my camera lens (not a scratch). Thanks for the link I'll go check it out. I will most likely be making the pilgrimage to apple sometime this week.

It's almost like it's making fun of me just started working properly again for about five minutes then started glitching again. I literally think it has something to do with the new spotify update (?) possibly too much for my 'hasn't-had-a-software-update-in-about-a-year' phone. Whatever even if it starts working again I might as well spring for the update as my IOS is insanely obsolete.
