My cousin Derf has a pretty awful name. They wanted to name him after his dad, but didn't want two Freds in the house.

Why didn't he just name him Fredrick?

I don't think I want to go into Dr. Pornsak's health clinic.

You'd have to ask my cousins that! I never dared since Derf is about 20 years older than me.

Well I despise my name so there is that.

"Lane"

It's... So terrible.

At least it's not as worse as some names could be.

As one comic put it about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's celebrity baby, you do not want to send your kid into high school with a name like Shiloh Pitt.
It might get mixed up.

^ That. Kanye West named his daughter "North" if I remember right. I mean come on! What's the kid gonna say? Hi, my name is North West!

In my native language Spanish, it is pretty common to find people with names based on objects or common words. There are a few that are acceptable and cute like Flor (flower) but I think some people went too far when they decided to name her daughter Tránsito (transit) and I swear this is true, I saw her in the news.

My father also told me about a woman who was actually named Insípida (insipidus). And there was one kid I read about on a newspaper that had a name composed by 36 letters, and it was just his first name.

In the past, I've had co-workers with names like Fantasia (Fan-ta-See-ya) and Strom as well as Wolfhard (said in a German accent that made it sound almost like a sneeze).
