I think it is going to completely revolutionize gaming in the future. That level of immersion is something that people have been looking for for a long time. Right now, it's gonna be expensive and require a beast PC to really use optimally. The HTC Vive looks way better in terms of functionality and performance, but it's also several hundred dollars more expensive than the Oculus. Every one I've heard from who has used both systems says the Vive blows the Oculus out of the water. I guess you get what you pay for.

I'm really tempted to buy a Vive, but I think the best bet is to wait a while until the tech improves and hopefully becomes less expensive.

Yeah, I think I remember reading about that somewhere while looking at videos and whatnot of it. I decided I'm most likely going to hold off on the headset and Virtuix for a while, maybe wait around 1 1/2 - 2 years before picking up a VR headset & platform for the PC since I have to save up 25k. In around 2 years there should be a lot more content for VR than there is now.

Its all really early bata stuff and cost $800+ for decent gear and you have to have a 980+ to even run it maybe in a few years it will be feasible but I don't see it as a decent solution for a few more years I'm guessing 5+.

I honestly don't know... I'd definitely need to try it first. Also who knows, maybe NerveGear will happen sooner rather than later. On thing is certain though: it will take few VR hardware generations before they manage to get rid of annoyances and make the hardware better. I wonder how long the first generation VR hardware will say relevant...

It is really the future of gaming and technology in general. Right now it is in the beginning stages, so it defiantly it needs to mature as well as the developers of VR. The big issue is the price. Once that goes down and the consumer sees how they can use it in their lives then it will be a bit more wide spread.

Like all new tech, (including VCRs, DVD, HD) you want it to mature for a few years before its even worth it. I do believe that it is a future for gaming, just not the immediate one that so many groups want you to believe it to be.

I feel like its way too overpriced and will easily die out; just like the 3D TV concept!

Virtual Reality is just one step closer to having your own holodeck like in Star Trek. It would be awesome. Except I feel that it will be abused and people will use to to create character demeaning content.
