Post Reply what job would you go for in japan, anime or manga?

I think publishing artists would be great. Be a bit on the independent side of it, and give certain artists that meet a few qualifications a chance. Especially to learn and expand their skillset within the environment of the industry.

Well I'm a Park Ranger in the U.S., so I'd probably attempt to get a job in a similar field in Japan, if they have it. I also have a lot of training in wildfire fighting and residential/commercial firefighting, as well as EMS training and triage, so I could always try that field as well as a first responder/firefighter. I also had to go through police training for the Park Ranger job, so there's that, too.

I've actually been looking at moving out of the States after I finish my next degree. The language barrier is a huge consideration, though.

Over there you would be hire on the spot. After you learn the language, you probably be training most of them on wildfire fighting.

If I was a really good artist, I would love to do manga, I mean if I didn't have to worry about money or getting by it would be a great profession to get into fully. I'm not use to deadlines, I mean I do create my own deadlines in terms of getting a drawing done, but I would have to get used to strict timelines.

Yeah it might be very hard work and mentally exhausting, but I'm always prepared for work like that.

I would try to get a job in the distribution warehouse. Everybody needs dumb grunts to get stuff done haha.

Probably neither. I really don't have any skill in regards to art. Besides, anime and manga are just more of a hobby.

Just because I watch some anime does not mean I'll have an urge to move to Japan. USA cartoons didn't draw to America either.

If mother had her way I would have gone there to teach. She wanted me to follow a family friend's son who had done that and still lives there today. I think she was trying to set us up. I didn't fall for it.

I'd go with manga. If i was good enough, I'd let an animation team handle the anime part. At least with manga it's your responsibility to bring the story to with your own concept. With anime, you'd have to deal with the producers and control over what scenes get used, replaced, modified and whatever else. Ah, and if you're the mangaka, you sometimes get the opportunity to pick your seiyuu (VAs) based on what you've imagined for your own characters.

My job is as an industrial electrician. Given that, in Japan, it's largely frowned upon for a woman to be in a field like that, I'd rather vacation in Japan than butt heads with the culture. That said; should I offhandedly choose, I'd go for being an English teacher. Mundane, and a fairly dependable choice.

I can tell this is true from personal experience, I once took a voluntary position as subtitle quality checker for a local anime distributer (Beez/Bandai). After having done a couple of series it made me stop watching anime for two whole years, and even though the I have series I worked on in my private collection, I can't bring myself to watch them again, ever, which is sad because they were quite brilliant titles.

Holy crap LOL

Yeah being a janitor is easier than being a manga artist

If I ever make it to Japan, it'll be for vacation purposes.

I can't draw but I can write but damn Japan is merciless on its artists.

I know it sounds like an impossible dream...

But I'm actually preparing myself to study animation and be an animator artist.

Neither. Japan treats its animators and manga illustrators like garbage. But hey, if you want to be an animator that earns less than 10k a year, go for it.

Well, I would love to write my own story and have it made into an anime (so I'd love to be a storyboardist) but seeing these comments made me realize I would probably not make it (especially because I'm not Japanese)

What about teaching English in Japan?
