I'm sorry but NC sounds so damn backasswards. That's saying something for the South.

First all they basically legalize discrimination against LGBT folks by repealing every single law that protects them and now this.

Go there and protest, maybe they have a shortage of SJW's.

No thanks, I'll stick to my own hillbilly state.

At least my government isn't keen to go back to 1950.

That's dumb as hell, it's gonna cause even more accidents with people constantly looking at their speed to make sure they're not over the limit.

This is not the only odd thing North Carolina police do. They also like to set up insurance and registration and inspection checks on random roads. I went through one when I was visiting a family member stationed at fort Bragg

The next thing you know, NCs government will be telling rock station not to play the Sammy Hagar song "I Can't Drive 55" because it promotes speeding.

I think my speedometer needs to be replaced.
The needle bends up and I think it gets caught on the screen and the traffic on the freeway wasn't really going 70.

North Carolina is a non-tolerant state. I own property in the Blue Ridge Mountains there. They set up license checks every chance they can. I've also been pulled just to be told that I was driving well. When the local police aren't pulling you the state troopers are. I think it's a money thing. But they don't pull the people that speed through residential areas causing chaos through the neighborhood, nor do they come when called over a disturbance...

It's not entrapment. It's just a dick move on the cop's part but to be fair that is how they catch a lot of bad people. So many criminals with warrants are found by normal traffic stops so in a way even though it's kinda crappy it is them just doing their job to protect the public. I would challenge it if I was them and take it to court but then it may just be cheaper and easier to pay the ticket. If you are going over 1mph then it's still technically speeding and they can pull you over for that. Most cops wont or will give you a warning but who knows, maybe it's because it's one of those roads that has a lot of accidents on. I've been pulled over for going 3mph over before and it was only because the trooper wanted to tell me to play it safe because there had already been 3 accidents on that stretch that morning. He didn't give me a ticket and was pulling over anyone who was going even just a little bit too fast to try and warn them. Really nice cop but they're not all like that.

Sounds to me like they're promoting safety and try to keep a presence out there to deter not only speeding but also other crimes. They're just doing their jobs. Way too much hatred for the police but on the other hand there are bad cops out there and one is one too many. Sort of ruins it for all the good one's who are trying to make the world a better place. I wouldn't want that job, that's for damn sure.

When I first bought my car, I took a trip from Mississippi to Pennsylvania to visit my parents. I was literally followed by one cop after another - trading off at the end of their beats all the way from Mississippi to Virginia. I guess they were just waiting for me to do one thing wrong so they could pull me over. Felt like the longest drive of my life. I should have expected that when I bought the Daytona edition... the paint job stands out a little...

I remembered this guy was telling me he had a race car and the problem with that is the speed meter on his car is different than other normal car.. So if he goes 30 mph, the Police might scan it and showed he going more than 30mph like 35 or 40! XD He always get speeding tickets.

It does sound like his speed meter is broken, but he saying that his race car is faster than normal cars -shrugs-

Even if they pull you over, can't you just overrule the ticket? For reason that you just claimed could be possible?

JanusCascade, certain cars that are intended for weekend racing have speedometers which show more than a standard model of the same type. It just means that you know how fast you go at the higher end of things. For instance the standard Charger of the same year as mine shows speeds up to 140, while my Daytona model shows up to 160.

It sounds like your friend did a modification possibly putting on larger tires than his car is designed for without recalibrating the speedometer if he is consistently being pulled over for a 30 mph difference. That happened to my grandma once, the tire shop tried to take advantage of her and sold her tires that were too big. She got a ticket for going too fast and it was so unusual for her my dad followed her around the neighborhood to check her speed. It was consistently 20 mph over what her speedometer was reading, so he checked the tires and the store had sold and mounted a size too big. They were trying to rip her off since they figured a little old lady wouldn't notice.

It's a speed limit, not a suggestion of what speed you should drive.
