So I've moved states, from Kansas to Iowa and have noticed the conditions the roads are in are a whole lot better than they were in Kansas, less pot holes and patching, even the way they treat the roads in winter. In Kansas you were lucky they even bothered to plow but here they not only plow, they have trucks that spray brine on the roads. They can have several inches of snow cleared off in the matter of hours. So how well are the roads near you?

The roads are not bad where I live. Repairs are constantly being done, and we have new bridges going up daily. Unfortunately it is the drivers that can be a problem. One snowflake falls and they forget how to drive. I am from the east originally so I have driven in plenty of snow. Another downside it, it snows so little here we are no normally too prepared when it happens.

The roads are absolutely terrible in New England.. despite high taxes.. The winters and the road congestion absolutely destroy the pavement. Potholes are everywhere. It's just something you have to come to accept. Driving a car with low profile tires can be stressful though hah.

We do not deal with a lot of broken down vehicles, but pedestrians and drivers themselves cause a lot of issues. Drivers deciding to slow down or breaking when merging onto the interstate is a big problem. We also have a ton of pedestrians who decide to cross streets at random times with no notice and without using crosswalks (which makes no sense because we have them everywhere here).

The only time I worry about the roads is when it rains, but I tend to walk everywhere so it's not too much of a problem for me.

Oh god, I hate people who stop to get on the interstate >.> that's what the merge lane is for. why do people think it's ever a good idea to just stop when getting on a road that could be 75 mph

Oh yeah. Depends on the part of town though. Where I live in West Linn on 43 it seems to hardly ever get fixed, despite the fact they just patched large portions of it. Other parts of town, a giant pothole appears from nowhere and is filled with in days (I assume industrial areas are better patrolled for such since they get heavier traffic patterns and freight). I'd say Portland is pretty good at it overall.
