Since I figured this does sort of relate to the anime community, I figured I would share this great video I found with you all.
I've never been so proud of another person before.

Okay I watched it and just... Wow. Back when I was a kid these assholes dominated the shit outta the catholic community where I lived. And any priest that did not succumb to their every whim and preach a gospel based purely in fear was rejected by them and forced out of the church. This uptight judgemental mindset that so many leaders in the community have drove away hundreds of thousands of people my age from christianity and often religion altogether. It's very sad to me, someone who is agnostic but still has immense respect for the moral lessons of religious texts, to see that this bullshit is still happening.

And you know what? It's not even effective. It's just gonna push more and more people of the younger generation away the more it happens. And then they still wonder why the numbers of non-believers are rising. "I told them they were the devil because they watched cartoons, I don't know why they wouldn't want to join me" smh

I know. They really don't understand how they could possibly be driving people away. Maybe because you're talking about God like you're Frollo from the Hunchback of Notre Dame

The sad thing is it's like that throughout most of the world. It's not a Trump type thing where you can just move away.

Not to argue with you or anything, but while I agree that the crazy shit people are doing and saying is a factor, I think it is also the fact that we don't live in a world where the concept of God is still needed by the general populace. There are even those who follow the belief systems of Christianity but do not whole-heartedly embrace the idea of god and would proclaim that they believe there to be some merit in what the bible has to say.

While I'm certain that there are no shortages of people like this, I still doubt that there still would be so many non believers if there weren't assholes like this giving a nasty stigma to their religion.

He's most well known as the voice of Edward Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist. He's known for being an absolute sweetheart to his fans. (going as far as letting a fan lick his hand once)
