Given the people in cosplay I'd guess there was a convention going on, and they were playing off the whole 'Anime and cartoons are the devil, repent while you can' schtick.

I never understood that. It's a really lazy blanket philosophy.

I knew there was a reason I liked this actor.

The only problem I see is that he's attempting to reason with them. Reason rolls off the backs of the fervently religious like water off a duck's feathers. They aren't willing to listen, only preach, which is why these types show up in places where they aren't really wanted, or needed. They believe that if they just yell loudly enough, long enough, the world will agree to revolve around them and their views, which are usually deeply conservative and therefore, misogynistic, anti-LGBT and occasionally, racist. They aren't interested in anything else. Reason, logic, pleas for tolerance aren't going to get through to them. Plus, they have a rehearsed Bible passage to toss at you, for every point you make. I don't bother any longer. It's a waste of time and energy better spent elsewhere, though kudos for the attempt, Vic.

Sometimes, it's best to simply walk away from and ignore these idiots. Better yet, do something nice for someone who identifies as one of whatever group these fools are targeting. Take that person to lunch and let them know that for every twit out there with a 'Jesus hates 'X'' sign slung around their necks, there are a lot more people willing to run interference and drown out their screeds with an act of decency and generosity.

I couldn't be a public figure. It requires way too much niceness and PC.

If they're talking about Vic, there's been a lot of rumors about how he's supposedly a diva.

Well, I kind of guessed that, but I don't like making that kind of assumption. So I was hoping someone might know for sure.

Unfortunately, lazy, blanket philosophies are kind of what people gravitate towards naturally... If I had to guess, I probably hold some myself, although I try not to.

Also, I looked up the voice actor, and found out he's 53!!!

Oh, there are all kinds of public figures, many of which could care less who they insult. As far as 'PC' goes, in my day, being politically correct simply meant that you used your brain before you opened your mouth and observed a few social niceties.

I take that with a grain of salt as there've been rumors before like that he was mean to certain fans which were later debunked. People tend to try and defame people just for being popular or well liked.

I do too, but it's just things I"ve heard. Anyway, I know someone who met him at a con and said VM was very nice and signed for him.

There's also this urban legend that VM supposedly pissed off the yaoi fans when someone had asked a question about Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle(I think he was the blond guy that was always hanging out with the big samurai guy)and VM supposedly said 'OH NO THEY AIN"T GAY' and started sprouting some homophobic stuff. Which is why all the fujioshi got pissed at Funi for casting Vic in Free.

Anyway, I give him credit. He's religious, but he stuck with guns when his church didn't approve of his role in FMA. And I give him credit here for telling off the protestors.

He wouldn't say it like that. When someone brings him yaoi to sign he does ask if they have something else he can sign instead because he doesn't want his name on that. I've seen him kiss Todd Haberkorn on the cheek.

And he's friends with J Michael Tatum, who's openly gay.

Anyway, again. Just rumors. I follow him on twitter.

Is he 53? I figured he was late 40s at the most.

I hope I look that good when I'm that age. I'm already very wrinkled from smiling all the time. I actually just sent him an email telling him how proud I am of him.

I agree with Vic in this video, he did well. I've been to only one convention but there was a group like them outside with signs similar to those in the video. I am a Christian, but it hurts to see other "Christians" out there projecting such a judgmental and hateful message to young people who are just doing what they love.

They should just mind their own business, frankly.
