Definitely checkout Quarantine by Lex Thomas.

It's a simple read but the concept is really fun.

Synopsis TL;DR:

Kids at a high-school have contracted a virus that kills any adult near them, thus the military forces them into lockdown at their school.
But the biggest danger is their peers.

Also recommend The Stand by Stephen King.

Stand is pretty good.

Im reading Canticle for Leibowitz right now. Fascinating book about a religious order that is dedicated to preserving technology from the earths pasts after a nuclear apocalypse. Its told in about 3 parts with each part showing how technology progresses with society essentially rebuilding itself by the third part after hundreds of years.
