"A Hyundai Sonata plowed through his wall, causing significant damage to his home and serious injuries to his person." I can't put my finger on it but something is wrong here. Maybe I'm just retarded; carry on.

Freak accident, I've heard something similar, like a car plowing into a house and killing someone on the couch. Sad.

Nothing wrong with the grammar here. That phrase is just a bit archaic.

The house I grew up in has been hit twice by cars. Luckily neither of them made it through the wall. The first one bottomed out on the front porch slab, while the 2nd was stopped by my car parked in the driveway next to the house - although it pushed my car into the side of the house and broke a couple of pieces of siding.

My neighbor's house got driven into...see photo. They'd just bought the house about 2 weeks before this happened. Luckily no one was hurt and they installed a basement window in the hole left behind to repair the damage.

It's worse than incompetence. Some details left out from the original CBS Local article:

The driver did not have insurance. She was cited and Rose is now left to pay for the bills.

Now, I don' t know Texas law, but I was under the impression driving without insurance was illegal pretty much everywhere. So, while breaking the law generally, the driver negligently smashed into a house and could easily have killed someone.

You would expect charges, right?

Irving police said no charges will be filed against the driver of the vehicle that struck Rose.

Huh? Why not? And why was there so little information in the original article about the driver to begin with?

If not for a GoFundMe campaign, the poor guy would have probably ended up in bankruptcy court over his medical bills. The driver who could have killed him while breaking the law?

Meh, they cited her so it's cool.

Calling the whole thing an "accident" is disingenuous too. I can accept that a person can mistake the gas pedal for the brake. I've done it a few times myself.

But think about just how hard this woman had to hit that gas pedal to propel her car through the parking lot and into the house before she realized she'd goofed.

When I back out of a parking space, I don't slam the gas pedal down, I gently press it. Which is, I'm fairly sure, in the driver's ed manuals. If it isn't, it should be. It's why I haven't hurt myself or anyone else despite the occasional "oops, wrong pedal" moment. What we have here wasn't a simple accident: it was pure negligence.

The driver of the car here clearly did something that was extremely negligent and apparently got very little if any punishment for it.

The gamer? He was doing nothing wrong but his life got seriously screwed up because someone without insurance was driving without concern for others.

Re-reading this article just burns me up.

P.S. the whole "injury to his person" thing is archaic but still used regularly in legal circles. The expression would probably pop up in a legal brief if he sued someone over this incident but since the woman driving didn't have insurance there's no point unless she's got money or someone else tied into the crash has it.

i live in a small quiet street, so hopefully there's no drunk/bad drivers or drag racers here lol.

my computer was moved to the very front study room which is near the street... not much space in between... and i spend most of my days there.

Uhg, once again, Women drivers...

Now that I think about, pretty much every accident I know was caused by a woman almost in my whole life, I was 11 or something when I was hit by a Nurse of a School while she drove her Mini Van.

Oh shit, I think she tried suing me too, when I was an injured 11 year old...
