Hopefully we can all agree here that ERASED is by far one of the best anime that has come to us this 2016. I was hoping to gather up some Intel on others thoughts, and see if we could make this a general discussion. Feel free to compare to other anime's that you've seen before, and without a doubt put down recommendations if they are similar. All in all this is more than anything meant to discuss the ending of the anime, if you have not yet seen the ending or haven't started I do recommend to not click on here do to the fact that it may ruin your experience with the show. That being said, its crazy how it ended isn't it?! Great plot even to the end! Thoughts?

My only real disappointment was in the choice of villain. He was always the most rational choice since the start purely due to the process of elimination in terms of how many male adult characters there were. Since the show was of such high quality throughout the run it was kind of lame that the mystery angle felt so phoned in.

All in all I did enjoy the series a hell of a lot though. Those cliffhanger episode endings were intense.

My only complain about the ending was it was medicore and cheesy but overall I loved the fact that he's with BEST GIRL. I really wished they build up Ari and Satoru's relationship more. I heard the manga does a good job with this.

It felt a little rushed and predictable towards the end

In my opinion the show was great, probably the best of this season, but not of the year. I have to give credit to A-1 Pictures in that they managed to make the show as engaging as it is. Most of the cliffhangers at the end of most episodes were incredible and drove me crazy waiting for each episode. But the anime is without a doubt rushed, as A-1 Pictures likes to do.

But my main problem is with Yashiro as the villain, not because he wasn´t good, in fact when the show revealed that it was him all along he was really scary and intimidating. But we never knew exactly why he acted the way he did, we don´t know what his motivations are. Also, the reason as to why he let Satoru live was terrible in my opinion, it felt like they wanted to portray a Batman/Joker relationship but in this show that kind of relation between the villain and the hero doesn´t make sense at all. Airi deserved more screen time with Satoru, not for a romance but it would´ve been nice to see the confidence they gain with each other as friends.

I think that´s all I have to say about the show. The ending was good, it did what it had to do but it wasn´t amazing like for example Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, but still, a great show overall and a total joy to watch.

For someone that tries to shy away from being an anime snob, I loved it. every episode. I didn't really get into it until about the 3rd or 4th episode, but then I fell in love with it.

It's amazing. Not my AOTS, but right up there regardless and I loved the ending. if anyone deserved to be happy it was Satoru

I loved the anime, i really liked the story development and the whole feel of it almost reminded me of steins gate which i also loved. the ending felt extremely rushed as though they cut out at least 3 eps maybe 4 worth of story to fit it into one season. i liked the overall message the ending had though it was really cool. Its so true most of us as kids just wanted to be liked but if we went back with our minds now we really wouldn't give a crap what people think and our lives would probably turn out a lot different. It was cool to think about but i would have liked to see more.

I thought they did a really good job portraying the mind of a psychopath. they don't really have rational motives for the things they do and their mental degradation can be hastened at scary speeds when introduced to certain stimuli. for example, drowning the hamsters in the wine bottle.
Many serial killer and psychopaths that have been interview throughout history began their habits of killing with small animals such as rodents. Even the reason for not killing satoru i think was pretty good because it was a really vain and self centered reason which also fits a total psycho.

It was good. I kinda had the feeling that Yashiro was the bad guy throughout. Idk something was a little off, but overall was still great.

Erased was a show I never liked at first, the fast pace was just not for me.... and how sure i was! The fast pace, HUGE plot holes, almost no mystery to solveruined it for me..

Ugh the ending was crap, they should have killed Satoru and then his teacher actually would have jumped off the building and then the title would have meaning because erased in Japanese is Boku dake ga inai machi while means "a town WITHOUT me" but overall good anime!!

It didn't know what it wanted to be and became a jumbled mess.

The series spent more than half of its episodes setting up for the audience to care about the murdered loli, but not giving the audience a reason to care about any of the other characters or conflicts, so once that was solved it muddled through looking for something to get the audience to give a damn about.

So it went from spending more than half of its episodes trying to get the audience to care about one character (the loli) and one relationship (that of the loli and the MC) and after that was done trying to get the audience to care about who the villain was and his motives.....the relationship between the MC and his other pals......the relationship between the MC and the villain......the relationship between MC and Teenage McSlut.......give the reporter a purpose in the story......and quickly resolve substories that probably were meant to be other things but the writer decided to just attribute them all to the villain because he realized he couldn't reconcile where the story was going with the sub stories he wrote into the story earlier.

ERASED was an attention grabbing show, one of the best of the season. The ending was a little disappointing but only because it had already set the bar so high with all the earlier content. Satoru won a definite victory by drawing Yashiro's attention exclusively on to himself. Yashiro became obsessed with Satoru and no longer inclined to murdering other people. Satoru manged to defeat Yashiro without killing him in the past -the obvious solution to a problem like this.

A small detraction was Satoru's supernatural power, where did he get and why, was it fluke or fate? There was no hint or explanation other than the luminous blue butterflies. Butterflies seem to be increasingly used to signify some sort of supernatural event in anime.
