Really can't say I'm a fan of the ending, really would've preferred Kayo and Satoru ending up together instead of her being with some random friend of theirs that had no real connection. Instead its heavily implied he ends up with a girl half his age and a high school student, completely tossing all the romantic build up between Kayo and Satoru out the window

The entire second half of the series was a downhill slope
The only good thing about that ending was Yashiro showing some emotion, everything else can burn in a fiery hell
That's what made Bokumachi and DRRR Ketsu basically two of the biggest contenders for most disappointing of the season, their horrible fucking endings

Absolutely love Erased. Best anime of the season, year, all time. Hand down; full stop.

From episode 1 to 9 this show was flawless. The last three episode were a bit of a bump but I expected that due to the main story being finished and the last three episodes being used to gather everything up for the ending.

But the designs, the colors, the tones, themes, acting. All of it was superb.

If you're lambasting this show because of it's lack of proper mystery you have missed the point of it entirely. This was never a mystery show but a thriller with a mystery element.

The show's entire premise is that lives are enhanced when you include other people. That the world opens up when you put your trust and love in others. That interaction with another for good or evil is necessary for the good of all.

Kayo died because nobody intervened. Satoru and Kayo's lives were both enhanced by the reaching out and caring for one another. Taking action to right wrongs rather than letting things occur because it was improper to address another parent.

Episode 10 can be seen as a warning that one must still be wary of who they place their trust in, but it comes down that people working together can make things right. Satoru was alone in episode 10 and suffered for it, while in episode 12 he trusted in his family and friends and together won the day.

But more than the theme of the show, it was the ability to evoke genuine emotion in me that makes Erased one of the best. The breakfast scene in episode 8 is one of the most tragically beautiful scenes in anime.

Kayo and Satoru's scene in episode 11 brought genuine tears to my eyes and real sense of relief. The hallmark of any show is how it gets the viewer to invest in the setting and characters and I was invested.

A show need not be flawless to be a masterpiece. Akira, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun are all considered hallmarks of anime and none are perfect.

This show. I will cherish this show til the day I die.

I was fine with the ending.

I think people went into the show expecting something that the show wasn't ever intended to be. I quite enjoyed it.

^Agreed 100% with this post. It was the best anime of the season and one of the best of all time in my opinion. It's a beautiful anime that really evoked my emotions and brought tears to my eyes. The last 3 episodes were a bit rushed, they skipped a lot of details from the manga, and I wished they followed the manga's ending but it was understandable since they wrapped up the anime before the manga's ending. Overall it was an amazing anime adaptation.

Ending definitely felt rushed, and was kind of dissapointed by how fast the show reached its conclusion. However, everything leading up to it was really good, so I can kind of forgive it. One thing that really bothers me is how perfectly everything fit together at the end with very little struggle for the happy ending.

well of course the ending was rushed. Heck, it even deviated from the manga. Although the outcome is almost the same. But different paths to get there from the anime and the manga. What the heck is this about him getting NTR'd? The only girl he really had Romantic feelings for was Airi.

This is way late, but I remember seeing this on my list and wondering why I stopped watching around episode 6.

Then I recalled that I spoiled the ending to myself and for the first time I actually felt disappointed that I did, because I love spoilers and while I'm aware that's not a popular opinion, I try to not spoil others out of consideration. I digress, when I found out that the killer was Yashiro, I immediately thought "Well, that was way too easy" and grew bored with the rest of the series because I had already guessed the killer 2 minutes into his total screen time. The series itself makes the main character relatively interesting, as well as the little girl he tries to save the whole time, but I was already starting to become really uninterested with their dynamic after about 3 or 4 rewinds. Watching him do the same things over and over again was cute sometimes, but I wish more came out of his childhood friends throughout the whole thing. I couldn't bring myself to watch the remaining episodes because I felt that the mystery was so flat and the rest of the plot was basically extraneous.

I couldn't care that it was rushed, I just wish that the twist was more of a twist. The killer felt fairly obvious despite trying so hard to make him feel not intimidating. If you want an actual mystery, I would rathe recommend you watch the Perfect Insider, as it's a far better twist and is far more dynamic than Erased.

The visuals were nice, the plot was thin, the mystery was boring, the characters were kinda the only thing that saved it... Erased was good, but I definitely wouldn't be continuing my viewing of it, or rewatching it.

Because it's difference from the usual tropes. Boy saves the girl, so he must get to date her, right? Plus some people think that women and men can't be just friends. I bet if Kayo was a guy, people will think "Oh, Satoru want to save his best friend! Bromance! What a very beautiful platonic male friendship!" and don't think about NTR this, NTR that

As for me, I'm quite happy with the ending. Of course, I'm a bit sad that Satoru lost 15 years of his life.
