As there are tons on the topic of liking, or doing Role-play itself, I'd like to ask something a little different.

Why did YOU stop Role playing?

What made you stop?

Was it the progression of time?

Did a site you used to frequent for RP, die?

Maybe it was an internal reason, like feeling embarrassed? Maybe you still love it, but just don't have the time?

Maybe you'd like to get that time back by using the power of a Mage? yes?? YOU LIAR! (Why am I thinking of Yu-gi-oh's time wizard..?)

Whatever you reasons, pleas feel free to post about it down below!

I used to be into some good play by post Role Playing games in my youth.
I preferred the structured, well organized kind to the spur of the moment improv. It felt closer to playing a game, especially if stats and such where involved.

The big reason I stopped was because I realized the people around me where taking
it far more seriously than I was... not in a narrative sense, but in the sense that they where
holding grudges, and breaking up friendships over role playing decisions.
This is entirely contrary to my own RP philosophy, where having a friend in game
stab you in the back is more akin to a plot twist... not a personal attack. As long as everyone
is playing within the rules, just have fun with the story that plays out.

Another reason is lack of time. I have so much studying to do recently, so I don't have much
spare time for more involved hobbies. At this point, even if I wanted to get back into it, I think I
would have trouble finding another well structured RP in a world I enjoy, and I would have trouble
integrating into the community and learning the rules. It's been too long since I was part of an RP group.

Never role-played in my life. Doesn't seem like something I would like.

I don't roleplay. I have a friend who roleplays with groups online though and I always give him ideas on how to de-rail the roleplay. Thankfully he doesn't listen to my advice otherwise he would probably be excluded from his roleplay group.

Primarily lack of time and a severe shortage of GM who were willing to run campaigns. Plus I got into skirmishing.

Was realizing that every 4 months of RP i might only get into 1 story that was worth it.

When I was younger then I realize it's childish.

Well... I still do it. I always change my skype name to someone in pop culture then write dickish comments and instill their values onto people.

Who says I stopped?

It's just much less frequent. I used to play on IRC constantly, but gradually people left, channels died...
