North Korea instructed the country Monday to brace itself for possible famine and severe economic hardship — but not to despair, because “the road to revolution is long and arduous,” according to an editorial in the state-run newspaper.

The article, published in Rodong Sinmun — the print mouthpiece of the North Korean government — comes less than a month after the U.N. Security Council voted in favor of slapping the Hermit Kingdom with tougher sanctions, after the country teased its potential nuclear and military capabilities earlier this year. The editorial stated that hardships to come might evoke another “arduous march” — the term assigned to the famine that struck the country in the mid-1990s, killing as many as 3 million people, reports the Telegraph, a British newspaper.

“We may have to go on an arduous march, during which we will have to chew the roots of plants once again,” the editorial piece read.

So, they warn of that while their "leader" stuffs his fat face? Makes sense.

You know to be fair a lot of their current economic trouble does stem from trade embargoes we of the west imposed on them . If any nation these days had even half that kinda of crap imposed on them they'd be suffering the same issues. That includes you Americans you know, no nation these days is a island so to speak. No nation is capable of supporting itself.

A good sum of the stuff told about North Koreans being "Psychopaths" is actually false propaganda on our side. However, it isn't at all rooted in lies. Honestly, NK makes national threats, restricts it's citizens, are far too strict with their laws, & (as evidence shows) are negligent to it's citizens. Specifically those of lower status.

I still remember seeing that video of a starving North Korean girl, asking for food. It makes one want to do something, then hits you with the reality that you can't do much at all.

I don't hate North korea. I dislike it's rulers. I'd prefer if the US had nothing to do with them, but if it one day happens, I hope a government can help these people. Not "free" Help. As in go in, rebuild the system to better the people, & then gtfo.

I do believe the whole point of it is that if they can afford to spend billions of dollars on nuclear research to make weapons of mass destruction, with long range capabilities then they should be able to make sure their people are at least fed. It is entirely irresponsible for a country to continually build weaponry at the cost of its own people. i mean all this is assuming that anything we hear about North Korea on the media is even true. last i heard NC had closed borders and no freedom of speech or press. i cant imagine them having some sort of news that reported honestly with the countries that have sanctioned them.
Trade embargoes are also kind of a given against a country led by someone that has little respect for human life, its own people, and even less respect for the way our country chooses to operate. sadly the people of north Korea suffer at the expense of the ruler. But there again i have never had the pleasure of speaking with anyone who live in north Korea or has lived there so i guess its all just speculation.
