I'd never heard of it until I got to college, but suddenly everyone was greeting me with "Rabbit! Rabbit! Rabbit!" on the first of the month instead of "Hi" or "Hello." A friend eventually explained that if you beat someone to saying "Rabbit!" three times on the first of the month it is supposed to give you good luck for the rest of the month. Some people said it would take the good luck of the person you said it to.

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_rabbit_rabbit

I just wonder if anyone else has things they do for good luck throughout the year?

Oh, and while you're here post your favorite anime rabbit!

Huh, well that's interesting. I've never heard of that before. Learn something new everyday. I guess it's easier than yelling hippopotamus, hippopotamus, hippopotamus or Coatimundi, Coatimundi, Coatimundi.

Still Panda's are cuter > rabbits and they have awesome lives so the masses may want to think about changing their phrase up a bit. I fail to see what's so lucky about a rabbit or especially a rabbit's foot. That's like calling your one-legged, one-armed, one-eyed uncle Lucky. Wasn't a very lucky rabbit if someone has his foot for a keychain. But I'm getting off subject. What I mean to say is: neat. I've never heard anyone using this phrase before so thanks for posting.

This is a new one for me as well. We are a bit superstitious about spilled salt in our home and always throw a pinch over our shoulder. We also do not open umbrellas in the house. I am not sure we have anything we do for good luck. Although I pray daily and also believe we must start off the new year with a kiss, so maybe that counts. I have few cleansing rituals for the home to promote a more serene environment also

That is great. My cousins have some pet rabbits too and they are so nice. What type of rabbit is yours?

Jeffery is on the border between a large mini lop and small French lop. The two breeds are extremely similar, what with the mini being bred out of the French and only real distinguishing characteristic is their size. Mini lops being smaller at 6-12 pounds and French lops being 12+ pounds. Jeffery is a comfortable 12 pounds. And he doesn't have any paper or anything as he was abandoned in a park and I got him a rescue shelter when he was a baby.

By the way everyone, support your local animal shelter and consider a rescue pet.
