ah, my bad. seems like i overlooked 0:18. i thought he was just brushing her off.

It looks to me like he takes her arm with him, but I'm just one set of eyes.

supposedly, the confrontation happened before the footage. of course, both sides give completely different views on what actually happened, and it's something only they know (unless there's a camera footage from the university showing what happened)

according to the girl (news sources seem to refuse to release her name for some reason), the guy used derogatory words against her
according to Goldstein, she was handling fliers and told him that they don't want people like him in there (white, with dreadlocks)
it's also possible some physical confrontation happened prior (grabbing the arm, pushing), but unless more information is released, we'll never know.

The footage definitely doesn't capture the beginning of their engagement. We do know that.

also, the video is exactly the same that you posted.

Yep. Good work, us.

I am from Jamaica and dreadlocks are a part of life and anyone, White, Black, Chinese and Indians can wear them. If a Rasta sees a white guy wearing dreadlocks nothing happens because in the Rasta's eyes the white man has the right to wear it. The actions of this girl is just pathetic.

You can't grab someone's arm that they are waving in your face to try to get them out of your face? With what knowledge I do have of the law I'd seriously doubt that would be breaking any law, especially with the way he acted (intent is a big part of crimes like that). His intent was clearly to get away from the situation and I see nothing wrong with trying to push someone away who is getting up in your face to leave such a situation.

I'm sorry, but I just can't understand your perspective.

I'm afraid there isn't much I can do about that, though it's alright; we are allowed to view the same situation different ways.

I thought dreadlocks can occur naturally and is not specific to just one culture.

yeah but I think blacks tend to wear them more party because they tend to have rougher hair (I think) plus I think they tend to look good on them more often than white people.

Like take me for example I'm white and I would look stupid in dreadlocks.

So they just don't work for everything but I think they tend to work for black people more so there is a bit of an image of it being more of a black hair style than a white one.

That being said that doesn't make it part of their culture and it doesn't mean no one white is allowed to wear them.

She was probably planning on wearing dreadlocks that day. Dude stole her thunder.

I can understand her frustration, nothing worse than wearing the same thing as someone else.

From what we see in the video, she and her friend were being generally horrible people, and the guy lost his temper. Personally, he didn't do anything wrong. It looked to me like he was just trying to get by her when he touched her arm, but I suppose I could be wrong. Either way, unless we get some good evidence that she didn't start the confrontation, I fault her.

Calling that dreadlocks is being pretty generous to begin with.

Besides, there are plenty of reasons to berate a white guy with dreadlocks ( especially if he looks like MaCaulay Culkin ) without making it racial.

Am i the only one that finds it bizarre that a short argument between two college students is national news? Just because it had a racial element? Strange times we live in.

If you're actually gonna tell people what they can and can't do based on your own culture you're a loser. This is America. Nearly everything about America is taken from another culture.

What's sad that if it were a white guy saying that type of shit to a black woman, he'd be labeled racists, receive death threats, and be expelled.

Many ignorant people actually think the definition of racism is being mean to black people.

I've met people who actually think that. Since white people aren't the minority, blacks can't be racists to us. Actually had someone tell that to me on Facebook.

I've had plenty of people tell me that before too. It's nothing more than an excuse to justify their hateful behavior.
