I actually thought that was an excellent first episode.

It's not the best animation, but I also wasn't expecting it to be. Still better than anything I could draw.

I actually watched with the Japanese names. I don't know why. it just felt "right" to do so.

The episode literally felt like the game come alive. And that's a good thing to me.

Not much else to say, but that I quite enjoyed it. And I loved that ED theme.

It wasn't bad...I liked it enough. But I also love crime shows.

That OP sounds like something an idol would sing, like one of those series like UtaPri.

There is also a live action movie.

It covers the 2nd case and the 4th case. It quickly glances over the 1st and 3rd cases.

That looks worth watching for the crazy hair alone. Also, the old guy in the upper right corner reminds me of a Japanese William Shatner.

Just noticed this show airs on Saturdays at 17:30 (JST) on NTV or, what I like to call, one of the golden timeslot for new anime (just before Detective Conan). So not only will this be a regular in the weekly top 10 TV rankings no matter how good or bad it is, but I also expect this to have at least 24-26 episodes since the last 4 shows at that timeslot all had 2 cours (Kindaichi Returns, Magic Kaito, Ultimate Otaku Teacher and Kindaichi Returns 2).

It's also currently the only video game-movie adaptation that people consider to be legit good, and not ironically good. Make of that what you will.

Anyways, as someone who HAS played the games (specifically one belonging to my favorite games trilogy of all time)...yeah got about everything I expected and got a solid adaptation.

Introduces our hero Phoenix and the supporting characters, goes through the first case which, as the tutorial case, is very simple and straightforward. They had to have deliberately TRIED to fuck up in order to derail this case.

And yeah the OP and ED...I'm kinda floored by just how cliched and anime-y they are. Weird to say, but it is. I could go on about it, but I really don't. It's just...wow. Not even mad.

Pleased with what I got here, and am not even mad that all signs point towards a loyal adaptation. Besides in terms of mystery video game- anime adaptations you could do worse...

I've watched it and at times it's even more over the top than the games. Also Mitsurugi/Edgeworth's acting is really good.

Despite the low budget and 3D objects, it was not a bad episode at all, and certainly retained the gaming elements of the source for dynamism. The show does seem to lack in situational gravity, as I felt the death was shrugged off by the boyfriend, but then the series was always focussed on the court cases I suppose.

I enjoyed following the logic, and it was nice that his Chief gave him a helping hand, as to show that he is indeed just a rookie.

Hoping for future cases to give the audience that haven't played the game some chances to think.
And I can't take those names seriously - Naruhodo and Yahari?

Larry was the same in the game, after he found out his GF was cheating on him.it was only at the end just like in the anime that he learned she truly did love him.

Overall If you're a fan of the video game you'll love the anime!
In my opinion I thought they did a great job moving from video game to the anime!

Well with that time slot, lots of young japanese kids will be watching this show and it will defintely get a lot of seasons to come

I dont think i will get into this though but I will watch it during transistion of seasons, thats usually when I watch the Conan and Kindaichi series.

I was overall happy with the Anime adaptation. They definitely brought to life what I love about the games. I like how they kept the episode simple enough and also enriching so those who haven't played the games could understand and follow it. I was really happy to hear the same music and see that they kept the humorous parts. I can't wait to see the rest of the series and most of all Edgeworth.

Does anyone know how often this series is going to be updated?

I wrote a review of my first impressions if anyone cares to see it in the reviews tab of the show. This is going to be my guilty pleasure of the season and nothing more. It's enjoyable and absurd, but that's about it

Haha pretty much what I was thinking throughout the whole episode.
