Feeling nothing while alive is horrible, but being in oblivion is better than feeling pointlessness.

It's not really like that for me; people's words don't really affect my goals, if anything I'd go against what they say to prove that I could do it.

My lack of ambition stem from not having any love for money or materialism... and 2nd I don't really know what I have an interest in.

My goal is impossible though as it's to see humans become biologically immortal because i don't see value in life if it will just end.

I have no interest in life aside from that goal and being told it's impossible leaves me with nothing left so no ambition haha

lol why does there need to be a value, or purpose, or meaning?

Why don't you work on trying to make people immortal? Might have more motivation doing that.

I'm a trans-humanist too but I don't have much interest in many peeps, more in robots and AI. Firm believer in Technological Singularity.

No I want to die when I'm 40 before I hit 50. Doesn't make what you said any less correct though.

Well it's not incorrect to me there is no difference i did say "I think" as in to me there is no difference not that it's a universal fact.

You want to die when you are 40?? Good gravy man why? I have more money now than ever before. My sword mastery is very good. My physical strength and mind are just coming out of the peak age. The soldier still salutes my wife every morning. I can bike 50 miles easily. Dying at 40 is waaay too young. If you take care of yourself, the 40s are your strongest most powerful years. 40? Dang you're just finding out what being a grown man is all about. Youth is still pretty strong through your 30s. It's ok everyone says things like this in their youth. I used to think I'd be arthritic and slow by this time. Not true, I am actually very surprised at my total power, speed and strength at 50. Not to mention I study about an hour everyday. Chin up man your 40s are going to awesome.

Did you qoute the wrong person?

If not i hope so i just want to live forever...which is unrealistic but i could live to 100 i guess that would be ok also.

I want to leave something behind when i die but i don't want children because i have personal reasons to not want children i want to create something that i can customize and form.

What do you guys want to do how do you want to live your life and go about your career?

I am almost done with my career, I am almost at the last position I can be in. I believe there are only 1 or 2 positions for me after this.
Start hardcore don't worry about socializing, kick start that career first. The social will come with money and affluence. I didn't have a desire to have children until after I fell in love and got married. The desire did eventually come after I got married. Glad I had kids. If you have a fair amount on the ball forget programming, they're a dime a dozen. Try engineering, it's tough to get a good electrical engineer. They pay is crazy good. Stay your path you are planning and thinking correctly. Steel your resolve and get it done. Glad to see youth doing it the right way.

Personally i would stay in programming (unless i got alot of free time with an engineer job) because i have always wanted to help program games which was my main point in wanting to learn how to program since i was like 9

Actually programming is a subset of electrical engineering. Just getting an engineering degree means they'll hire you faster into programming. About a 20% of my engineering buddies work in software. Example, fiduciary companies hire EEs because they know EEs crunch numbers and formulas fast. Companies use engineers to make game physics engines. The engineers in programming take the math modeling to another level. Like I said a code monkey is just that , a code monkey. An engineer winds up making the engines and tools used to make the code and tools. When I was younger I used to write Assembler for chip sets (typical EE job) when I got older financial and game companies were snapping up engineers like cookies, due to the high math and analytical ability. Being a code monkey is ok, but with your ambition you want to shoot higher and better. You can make games, but on a higher level.

Because i keep getting told it's impossible by people who are much more intelligent then i am and are in those respective fields.
There doesn't have to be a value or meaning you are correct however personally i would like my life to mean something atleast to me.

I hope they are wrong and it is possible though.

Well i'm terrible with Mathematics as it is i'm just good enough to just get into programming and university so i don't know if i could ever become intelligent enough to be an engineer...but i would like to try if that is possible.

I'm trying to improve my mathematic skill at the moment but i still have trouble with some basic equations at times and i haven't even reached calculus...

oh well i will try if i can't make it to that level then that's ok but if i can try that's something i guess,.

Maybe we'll be able to live for a long time, in the far future. As long as we don't kill ourselves in a WWIII

But maybe the technological singularity will happen within our lifetimes, that should be interesting.

Are you kidding? I was terrible at math! I really had to study hard and then some more. Here's the deal...It....was....all...worth...it. I am not the sharpest tack in the box. But I do know how to work and study hard, and that was better than being smart and unmotivated. You sound motivated, this is just like Naruto, work hard to unlock what's inside. You can do it!!

I hope that is the case ^^

also what would a engineer be classed as in I.T because im looking up the payscale site my country has to show the average wage and

software engineer/programmer are listed as the same job paying 71k a year (which is what i was going for originally anyhow)

I live in Australia so the pay seems high.

71k would be a dream i live on 16k a year and need to rely on my parents for financial support for now atleast >.<

I used to be so lost about what I wanted to do, honestly. Ever since I was young until highschool I had convinced myself I wanted to be in law enforcement. Then I realized I actually didn't, and flip flopped between being an actress, a presechool teacher, a member of the navy etc. I spent my years in highschool not even sure if I was going to go to college. I kept putting off my decisions and plans and decided I'd decide senior year. Senior year came and I still didn't know what I wanted, and was becoming sure that I'd just end up not doing anything at all.

Im studying nursing right now. I realized one of the most important things is to be able to help people in any way that I can. Im not super intelligent, but I knew I had a decent head on my shoulders that I could study nursing with. I was thinking that if I enjoy being an RN I should continue to study to become an NP with a specialization. I used to want to be a army medic, but decided to go the safer route and go for a regular nurse.

I'd also like to have some kids down the road after I'm a few years into my career. Maybe two or three, I hope. That's really the only plans I have so far, I'm impressed I even managed to get my shit somewhat together.
