Plot Summary

The manga follows Machi, a middle school student who serves as a shrine maiden (miko) at a Shinto shrine enshrining a bear (kuma) in the recesses of a certain mountain in Japan's northern Tōhoku region. Machi's guardian is a talking bear named Natsu, and one day Machi says to Natsu, "I want to go to a school in the city." The worrywart Natsu then gives Machi — who is ignorant in the ways of the world — a set of trials that she must pass in order to be able to survive in the city.

Episode 1

Machi is a country bumpkin, but she's determined to go to school in the city, but Natsu is warning her that she won't last. However, Natsu won't stop her despite getting a bad feeling about everything. Seeing that she has been living under a rock that she totally struggles with some easy city life questions. And then there is her cousin Yoshio who is a total nutjob there with the way he talks to children. That was pretty funny.

And then I just love the ending animation, made to look like it came out of a VG with the way the characters were moving, and more specifically an RPG for the 3DS.

E1

Not a bad episode - had some funny moments as well, with unexpected jokes such as bestiality
Seems like an enjoyable slice of life comedy, so I look forward to seeing what it has to offer after the talking bear novelty wears off. Loving the video game ED as well.

I read the manga awhile ago but I thought the adaptation retained the nice atmosphere for this series in particular about the girls and the bear's relationship. Definitely a fun Sunday series to watch every week.

Weirdest show so far this season. Pretty hilarious stuff. Especially chuckled with Kaori's reaction and line deliveries. Don't touch me!

Indeed you did, that was hilarious and entirely unexpected! I thought it would be another quiet shrine girl and spirit animal show and ... well it was... sort of... aside from the sexual harassment and lewd village history...

^People were probably expecting a sol show, but this series leans a bit more towards comedy.

I'd be funny if they visited a cafe run by a talking Polar Bear. (make this crossover happen animation studios)
