Everytime i pay for a membership do i have to redo the cancel renewal process.

The regular membership subscription always automatically renews until you cancel it. However, you can buy a gift membership in the store and give it to yourself, and that won't automatically renew. Here's a link to that:

IIRC, I was able to uncheck "Auto Renewal" from Settings. My apologies that I can't confirm it, since I ended mine a little over two months ago.

If you're canceling auto renewal because you think you may want to suspend your membership some months: Take a screen shot of any page in this process, and especially take one of the Settings page when you're done. Keep them at least until that billing date passes. The forums and the BBB complaints page have an uncomfortable number of stories of people accused of lying about canceling (because the system didn't record it, which is somehow their fault), and being told they need to produce evidence that coincidentally isn't available*.


* - One of the saddest examples was the BBB complaint where the rep kept ignoring the valid points the customer brought up and repeating the same demand of "When you successfully cancel your subscription you are sent an email as well as a Private Message on our site." (1 - Even if it were true, how would they have known that not getting those meant they hadn't canceled? 2 - When I ended my subscription, I got nothing of the sort.)
They finally signed off with "As you are unable to provide this information I am unable to assist you with a refund." They could have abbreviated that to the last four letters minus the -nd, and it would have come across much the same.

I'm genuinely glad that someone has. ^_^

Even so... if instead you had gotten a bill, and customer support told you that you were making it up and that you didn't cancel, would you have had a screen shot on hand to prove it? If so, I admire your perspicacity. If not, I'd have no room to talk... before I saw story after story here that sound remarkably similar, I wouldn't have either.

(I still probably wouldn't if it were $7, but now I try to be more careful with anything larger.)
