Honestly, episode 3 is my favorite so far from the season.

Hayate became a much more likable character imo and he had great chemistry with Freyja.
Rather than just screaming at Hayate all the time, Mirage actually helps him train in the skies and shows him his limits and potential.
Freyja's voice improved thanks to Walkure's motivation in particular Mikumo's conversation with her after she saw Hayate fly in the sky
Establishing a rivalry between Messer and Hayate.
The Aerial Knights gets even more mysterious with the introduction of a new leader/character at the end

Hayate is definitely becoming more likable and definitely more level headed unlike a certain singer in a certain band. I'm liking how we have both Hayate and Freyja have similar stories and both having development paralleling each other. I'm glad Mirage actually training him, and is willing to give him a chance. The character development sure is working out. As for the Aerial Knights, its interesting how they are putting them on the back burner so to speak.

I knew that meercat was going to be connected to his flying

pretty good episode, the 2 main characters are findng themselves in this new endeavor...

and so does their seiyuu , it seems like this is Minor Suzuki debut role as it was Megumi Nakajima in Macross Frontier. So hopefully Minori will get a lot more roles after this.

The seiyuu for Hayate is a fairly new seiyuu Yuma Uchida as well. Yuichi Nakamura was Alto in Macross Frontier and was a seiyuu for about 7 years but didnt have a lot of lead roles before that but had more work as a seiyuu just a year before Macross Frontier and after .

Nakamura san is one of my favorite seiyuu in the past 10 years,

Anyway , I like the character development in this Macross as well.

Stick a spork in my eye, drag it across the pupil, and snap it off.

WTF where they thinking?

This series makes me cry , it seems more like a cash grab or something cause of the target audiences.....only guys wanted the robots models of the earlier series if it was mostly plot + giant robots. This series has such a whacky target audience; more guys for the girl characters + girls if they are into the magical girl stuff.

Just...so sad to watch some of my earliest childhood memories of watching TV back in the early and mid 80s involving singing girls with their costume changes. Symphonogear I could handle, that Cross Ange last year was pretty decent AFTER the first 6 episodes cause it didn't have the costume changing....but this makes me want to commit seppuku with plastic utencsils watching those mecha I recognize mostly from Battletech after it was "borrowed" lose to the idea of "love and singing" crap (think even Lin Meimei would be upset).

Well aside the songs from being the best, one song is good so far, macross tends to follow the music industry.

And currently that is idols.

Minmay was an idol too, just that she was a 80s style idol. Also Minmay was also way more emotionally unstable than just about any other female Macross character. She was a tease who didn't know what she wanted. It was human, but at the same time it made her annoying in a very human way.

Freyja Wion is voiced by Minori Suzuki, her debut anime. (19)

Mikumo Guynemer's singing voice is by JUNNA. (16)

Getting younger and younger.

Interesting that they're going for newbies for even their main character. They sound nice though. Is that something they often do?

New talent is often scouted for Macross.

I'm not familiar with Mikumo's VA though.
