Watched it, and...

You know what I like best about cute girls doing bike things?

That it not being my thing means my Spring 2016 queue is one show closer to being manageable

It's kinda sad this anime is getting such a lukewarm reception.

I wish it was on Funimation but with Shunichiro YOSHIHARA Art Director and Yoshio MIZUMURA Design both worked
on Yowamushi Pedal ( that was on CR ) The Prod CMT must have preferrred CR

Aw, don't let other people's different opinion make you sad if you like it. I always think of these CGDCT with a gimmick shows as being a bit niche even within anime, but there doesn't seem to be any sign of that niche going away soon, so just watch and have your fun.

Why would it being on Funimation be better?

I'm not into motorcycles, but I can get into moe-tercycles, specially with the characters we've seen so far. I hope faux-Celty never takes off her helmet, and that the riding instructor makes additional appearances.

The first ep seemed awfully slow paced, especially considering it's subject. But CGDCT is one of my favorite genres, so Bakuon!! will stick around at least a while, long enough to get past the setup.

I like CGDCT shows, but this one hasn't pulled me in. It could be because it's about motorcycles though, since I'm not into them. But the first episode is just introducing the characters and story so I will give it a couple more episodes and see if it picks up. Never know, it might surprise me!

Wearing a skirt alone for me might be beyond strange, but that initially made me not like the show where she gets on her bike in just her school clothes. Thought, grr, going to be just blahze moe stuff. But they captured the satyrical side of motorcycling for the rest of it. Safety and gear of course over the top, but the talks about what motorcycle riding is had me laughing as she was trying to define it. When she accidentally left in neutral and went to race the bicycles, I was laughing. I have done that, and seen it more than once.

The trailer does show em wearing full gear on the roads though as well as in the training she has at least the track jumpsuit while at school with gloves. It is pretty accurate for somebody learning to ride who never even looked at a bike before. No way they would have accurate gear.

Is interesting that people saying it shouldn't be on CR cause isn't a "CR" show. Well, the way it is made is just like the sports ones. CR has many sports shows that cater to men and women with story and jokes really only appreciated by those which already have an interest. Aoharu x Machinegun for example of one is really not much different in premise than Bakuon with humor and character mentality suited to those that already have an interest in that sport.

From the first episode, the motorcycle stuff is very heavy and. If you don't have an interest in motorcycle either as a rider or just observer, you probably won't get much of the humor and connotation of the show. Example:

The flustering at trying to explain motorcycling.
The making broom broom while pedaling up the hill.
The statements towards suzuki and fandom.

It really all is a pretty accurate while being satyrical view of how riders do view the world. Hell, in winter me and buddies were hanging out working on bikes, the checking stuff and started broom broom motorcycle racing on bikes while they were parked in garage. :x I loved the first episode and I am not much of a CGDCT genre person, but I did find fun in the level they brought in the motorcycling. The fact they have so much authentically modeled and licensed product isn't an easy or cheap thing to have in shows normally due to the legalities of it and they got it both in name and looks.

MY take on that is the lack of interest from CR users / it seems a few of us that have ridden bikes get the humor.

I really didnt say it should be on Funimation but the response makes me wish it almost was !

I'm not a bike rider, but I have a few friends that ride bikes, and I do have a little interest in them, but no where near as much as I have for cars. I just can't afford a bike, and a class/license for it right now. But I find this anime enjoyable, because like someone said earlier. The bikes are accurate looking and have real manufacturer/model names.

The three friends that ride motorcycles do own Suzuki's, but one of them is buying a BMW. So when they were talking about Suzuki. All I could think of were my friends.

Episode 2

Rin's father is a motorcycling enthusiast, and he wants to buy a Yoshimura Katana 1135R, something that requires an essay to purchase. But one day, her father got into an accident when a stray cat jumped out of nowhere, which drove her to someday getting the Katana 1135R. She got a Katana, but not the Katana, which her father now rides. Here comes Hijiri to join the bike club where they play a game of chicken to see who can stop closest to the river without falling in, and while everybody stops, Hijiri's butler tries to jump across the river, and falls in. Hane takes her exam, and she's panicking as she's riding a different bike than Baita, but after shoe cheering she was able to pass with everybody. That was pretty nice to see Rin's background, Hijiri's passion for riding, and Hane getting used to handling a different bike just when all looked lost.

Episode 2

I just want to give Rin a hug after seeing some of her past. I mean, she's such a bright kid (and still is) but that accident involving his Father was bad....

Decent race this episode, I got a thrilling feeling from it although I wish it was a bit longer. Also, I find Rin and Onsa's relationship to be rather amusing. The OP song is alright I guess, ED theme song is rather boring, going to skip it from now on. I'm also really curious to see what other type of bikes this show will reveal soon. They seem rather well designed to me.

EP. 2 Uh ohh...
first two posts really didn't get it and all the subtle bits of story.

First the writing the essay wasn't for her to get it, it was for her dad. The type of guy who wants the best hence the banter when she leaves for school. That was the bike her dad crashed she said meaning sentimentality. That is huge and he reactions to the insults to it. It also shows why she wears full gear. Has fear of biker injury so wearing even full race armor during training.... That stuff is hot and uncomfortable.

The butler also wasn't trying to jump the river. It was a case of the last ride. Remember that the whole thing was homage to Rebel without a cause. In that movie, neither yields. James Dean jumps from his car while his opponent panics and both go over the edge. The servant who was riding makes reference to his days of being in serbia so it was like a final glory image for both of them. Something that is kinda every motor enthusiasts mind. That "to die doing what you love" and give no yields. Hijiri though is an image rider. Not so much for the ride, but the image of riding right now. Curious as to how that will develop.

Mentioned Rin's so far character development. To add to it, bet there is a bit of guilt she feels for causing the crash? But dad is okay and a dork, She love's "Dad's" bike which he probably just parked once he got the yoshimura and big bike license.

Hane suffered from a common thing to new riders. Old bikes as they are used, beat up and wear sort of "soften" up. The slight differences can quickly push em out of the comfort zone. That oil leak though, sorry but engine would be needing a full tear down and seals done for that. Rear primary on old hondas can be a pain depending on what seal it used....

Raimu is a squid. Nuff said and I expect an episode where her eyes get woken up pretty quick. They have from the start been portraying her as the cockly show off to the limits rider and they always go down some day.

Onsa: She I think is jealous of the Suzuki. It is a common thing for riders. Dislike something because it has something superior. Not much about it but pretty sure that is what it is. Even see hints of that in the end credits. I am curious to see how her character develops. Why they have the bikes seems a theme so really am curious about why the Serow. For city riding, it is a wierd choice. But they are affordable and rugged. I suspect more will be coming soon as the opening shows lots of highway riding, etc and that poor lil 250 really would be frustrating riding with the bigger engines of the group.

Short Summary

Solid made show. They smoothly get a fair bit of development and fun in such a short time frame. Episodes one and two they easily could have fillered and drawn out into more episodes. But straight to the point. No sitting and staring out windows with cicadias, no drawn out dialogue. It really is humorous and full of subtle details that make me enjoy the show, but is probably much more limited to non riders/motoring enthusiasts who do not get the subtlety.

If any non riders are curious, just poke me in your post with a quote and ask. This show is extremely well detailed. I also like how they are starting from a new rider perspective. It is summarized for the most part, but that was how it goes really. My first start was on a 74 CB450. Myself and friends on the street where he lived practicing riding after getting learners! I still have that bike and hate CB750s cause of it.
