Episode 2: School!!

Yo this show is pretty hype. I really do enjoy the premise and it's good to see a motorcycle enthusiast verify all these facts that they say in the anime. It makes it even more enjoyable, and I'm actually learning something.

Ahhh that chicken race. Those used to be in old school movies all the time. That poor Ducati though. Looks like Raimu has a rival that can keep up with her.

Give me back my tears Bakuon! Thought Rin's past was really tragic then her dad popped out of nowhere with his bike and insulted his old one.

I like the new girl, its like the goody two shoes trying to act gangster. When she said we were homies I lost it. I'm going to enjoy her. Looking forward to the next one

There is one interesting thing I noticed in the OP and forgot to mention. Raimu's last name is Kawasaki and is riding the late model zx12, so it probably wasnt a used bike. Though in canada, we didn't get the 12. Just the 10 and 14s. New, that is close to 20 thousand CAD. Resale stays high for a few years too so even used, it would be close to that price. The helmet she is wearing is in the higher tier for race certified helmets as well. It is something that was nagging on my brain actually.

There are more expensive ones that are aero for top speed runs and loaded with graphics, but pure racing helmet without the splash and dash, Simpson has been the name in motorsports for a very long time. Not just motorcycles. In fact they got their start in most drag racing, nascar, etc. Really are the name for the ultimate in pure function in protecting the brain in the motorsports I have been involved with.

So if want something to ponder for a week. You have a girl who just got license, riding a big bore bike, not wearing gear, but has the top end minimal stuff with the last name of Kawasaki. I cannot help but think she grew up around motorcycling. The wearing the helmet etc is a strange one. Believe me, they get stuffy real fast when you don't have the airflow from moving on the bike. Almost like she is somebody famous who wants to be out of her family circle and just have casual fun with friends and hence why started the club?

That trolling with Rin though, the tear-jerking tragic "death" of her father, as she comes to take his bike into the driving school .....he comes riding past.

Heh heh, I was expecting that.... I have had a crash worse than the one shown and if Rin was fine, he was perfectly okay, probably just bruised. When I saw him all in traction, I was just imagining typical doctor overcaution that is normal with a bike accident as well as toss in a bit of what the child sees, not what actually is.

In fact, if he was dead/not able to ride, I would be pissed cause that crash, no way ^.^ To top if off, if her dad was killed/crippled, no way they would have signed off on riding, gotten bike or anything along with it. Nah, that race suit screams daddy protecting his little girl (>^u^)>

That oil leak though, sorry but engine would be needing a full tear down and seals done for that. Rear primary on old hondas can be a pain depending on what seal it used....

Well, either that, or the oil drain bolt needs to be tightened a little bit.

Hrm.... dunno. The oil changes would usually be done before the riding class group starts or the start of the riding season. Before and after classes and crashes, the bikes are normally inspected for such things. There is an inspection method riders do called T-clock. If it was just an oil drip from drain plug, it would have been caught well before a puddle that big formed. I am thinking that some bikes were flagged for replacement and Baita was one of them. that is if the entire lot wasn't flagged for replacement.

I do have an interesting thought on that though. In the opening and closing, Hane's bike is pink but I don't think it was ever available pink. Usually schools pull the stuff like guards and the instruction lights off to swap them to the new replacements then sell off their old bikes. School bikes are usually a bit beat up but great for new riders plus well maintained cause they have to be. So I really think that she is going to buy baika and then give a repaint.

In fact, to owners, bikes really do develop "personality". My Nighthawk has plenty of it and even named Tina. With that strong Baita introduction, and the part how the test bike has none? I will be seriously disappointed if we don't get more.

This show sort of makes me wish I loved bikes as much as these girls do as I'm sure the show would be a lot more enjoyable that way. It's not at all bad but I could easily see myself forgetting all about this show if there was more worth watching on Mondays.

I was caught off-guard by that beginning flashback. Thought there was going to be a tragic ending but glad that her dad recovered. Young Rin was quite precious though. Hane's got her license and a new weird girl has joined club! Though it looks like we're saying goodbye to Baita (RIP), it was quite a fun episode.

Nah.... I think we will see Baita again. Hane's gotta get a bike from somewhere and school bikes almost always end up for sale at good price. They go bike shopping and suddenly a convo starts with shock, surprize and humor! She buys, paints pink, more hilarity ensues!

BAKUON!! EP 2 / School!!

Rin's backstory was very nice animated ! This is like my Heavy Object replacement . Sit back and enjoy. Also a nice job from Manga to anime! Kinda sad about Baita though.

that backstory was cute and funny.

Japan has a stricker motorcycle license in comparison to California , since they categorise it to 3 class, heavy motorcycle 400 +, ordinary or medium motorcycle 125- 399 cc , small special vehicle / moped 50-124 cc.
That Suzuki Katana is a medium size , is actually a 399. And I read its very difficult to get the heavy class license.

I knew his dad didn't die with that kind of crash that part was very silly and he is all wrapped up
. But this episode is a good insight of a bike schools in Japan. Don't know how they do it here since I never went to a formal bike school to get a license That school looks very thorough though with dum down Honda bikes for the school.

the NARROW BRIDGE test: The a steel bridge (5cm X 30cm X 10 meters) on which a testee passes taking more time than the specified time. Stepping a foot on the ground or falling off from the bridge immediately terminates the test. Crossing the bridge faster than the specified time counts 5 points per second deduction.

Its fun episode, I really like it, pacing was fast and they didn't drag more details during the school though since there are 5 test areas but I get this show is not just about one main character.

That is one of the more interesting tidbits of story I really want delved into more with Raimu. Student on a 1200 supersport? That is some serious backstory I am waiting for!

Thank goodness, that would have been tough to make interesting. The bridge crossing one really is where it all sort of comes together. Good choice on their part. They got it easy though vs the stay inside the lines during a curve. Slow speed drag racing win. First to cross the finish loses!
