Well, that was an opening. Bad animal metaphor used to teach a little girl that she should never cry, tragic backstory that yanks on the heartstrings while failing to suspend my disbelief, and then how does it segue back to the present day? With a gratuitous butt-shot of the girl I'm almost in tears for. Oh, and of course that horrible event didn't actually have any long-term negative consequences.

I enjoyed the episode despite that first five minutes, but it was still absurd. This is probably going to be the show that I keep all season but can't quite figure out why.

Ep 2

Liked Rin's characterization this episode, although Onsa is still my favorite. It's surprising how much I've learned about motorcycles already, assuming any of the stuff the girls are talking about is true. Some of the lingo is a bit over my head, but I can enjoy the passion of having a passion. The new girl seems fun, too. I hope Rin's dad is a recurring character because the dude is a total dork.

Nothing like girls bonding over a game of chicken.

Episode 3

Hane got her license, and now she needs to get a bike she can call her own. So it's off to the used motorcycle shop owned by Onsa's family where Raimu knows just by looking at those motorcycles what problems they have. Hane has decided to ride a pink Su-Four, but even though her friends were trying to steer her away, she buys it anyway. Now that everybody has a bike of their own that they go joy riding and while that's going on, everybody finds out about Rin's crazy attitude towards her Katana. As for the bike club, the school used to have one, but it is defunct and they only have the room because it was empty. They have the members, but without knowing what Raimu's full name is that they need Rin to join in name only. It turns out that wasn't necessary thanks to Raimu's willpower. Very nice episode this is.

Episode 3

I'm loving Rin's character design, but jeez, her Tsundere qualities are just killing it for me right now..

I will admit, this was the funniest part of the episode for me, hahaha!

Ep. 3, A Rider's Perspective

As addressed and expected, Hane got her license and the Pink Honda as seen in the the openings and trailer. Instead of delving into the plot from here, some points of interest were made, but not really explained catering again that the show is geared towards riders and having people ask questions about riding if they don't.

First point of interest is the shopping bit. Shops like that do exist, though in at least north america, odometer rollbacks like that is highly illegal. I suspect it is the same for Japan, but some people just, like they said, want a cheap bike. However they tend to also be dangerous but are a good place to find bikes to fix up as they tend to be complete. They probably do more business as a local service shop. Getting bikes like that sellable and functional do take a certain knack beyond just having the training. Though leaving the seaweed and such wouldn't really happen but there for dramatic flair. To the unknown buyer looking for a cheap bike, the bike would seem just fine til got away.

Next interesting point were the comments about it being a mistake to get her into motorcycling. What was seen is actually representative of something that can happen to many new riders. The greying of background is representative of how many people just lose focus on their surroundings. She speeds away oblivious to all things and thus, the running out of fuel. She just got on and rode away without any of the pre-ride inspections like we saw in the past episode.

Solo vs group riding is a real thing that exists. I in fact never ride with passenger because the ride is for me. I do group rides, but that is usually a social thing with people of a similar bikes or for charity.

Singing while riding.... I haven't met a rider who doesn't. No lie. All the guys I know who ride seem to like singing cheesy songs to ourselves while out on the highway.

The biker wave... There are many different discussions and rumors about what it means, but the most common modern statement is that it is just a wave to say hi. The number of fingers and how you hold em is what engine you got. It isn't a peace, but two fingers is a 2cyl, etc.... I have issues on one bike cause is a 6 cylinder. Need to sew an extra pinkie on maybe...

Biker groups.... yup, same thing like before. Some people are just all about their specific niche. I had a good chuckle about how after being shunned by those she looked up to, Rin then shuns people who look up to her. Listen to how they talk, the admiration and respect for her bike, but then pushes them off. Poor guys....

Lastly, there is a pretty surprise plot twist I didn't see coming, but that would be a spoiler to say more.

To finish this post, something in spirit of Bakuon. Was part of a major indoor show this weekend, so had to snap some pictures after setting up. Sorry about focus, it was 1130pm after a full day of prepping bikes and didnt notice Miku got out of focus.

Ha, Rin a nutshell. Good episode, it gave time for all the girls to enjoy their bikes including the pink one that was hyped to appear.

Plus, I think this show does a neat job with its comedy in particular with Onsa and Rin's relationship.

Sooo.....are we just gonna ignore the fact that Raimu is a woman in her mid 30s that dresses up in a school uniform + helmet + pigtails to hang out with high school girls? >.>

Raimu and Tazuko ( The Headmistress ) were both part of Team Virgin when Raimu had that accident which I think did something to her! You know she has a sixth sense like she have got when she almost died !

Raimu was the original bike club / in fact Tazuko gave her a new HS ID ! ( now not to spoil the backstory is not revealed in the manga yet )

She's there tp protect the girls. You gotto use some anime logic,

Maybe this won't be as happy-go-lucky as I thought. Most of the characters had a chance for some exposure. I was pretty indifferent to this at first, but now I think it's pretty okay. I'm interested to see where they take it from here.

Also, I guess I'll join the "Onsa's character design is awesome" train.

Thats bad even for anime logic. I mean, there are any number of legitimate ways they could have senpai be the club manager. This one however seems both illegal and designed specifically to let senpai dress up as a high school girl. -.-

I really want that Rin figure now, but I missed the pre-orders by several months. *sigh*

Definitely the season of cute girls. My favorites this season are definitely leaning towards the CGDCT genre.

Well, expect re-release or smaller scale/nendoroid etc if there is any semblance of success to the anime. I never knew about this series til it came up on the anime listings.

It does present an interesting logic puzzle at how anybody could think it was a good idea. At best I could do in my mind was that their racing led to the closure of the motorcycle club. It is a way to get that bit of school heritage back, however a teacher chaperone would potentially disrupt the riding essence. But most likely is just a bunch of living vicariously dealie. I am just waiting til she explains for herself. Does answer all my questions about her character though.

I actually like the back stories we are seeing so far , it actually make this title pretty interesting.

I was cracking up when everyone can hear Rin singing that cheesy song. It was pretty funny. I also agree about how some new rider visual field gets narrow since they get so excited and forgot to do a self check on the bike.

The pink Shoei helmet is cute. I had Shoei helmet too but they were always fullface like Raimu -senpai. Its funny how she write down what she wants to say , the same as Celty in Durarara although we cant hear her voice at all....

Well no wonder Raimu can tell whats wrong with those bikes.... I feel really bad for the 250 guys I too was a 250 guy too although a Kawazaki Ninja which I bought from the orginal owner and not some sleezy shop

So far I am enjoying this show

We need to chat bikes some time. I do the one step below sleazy shops and tend for the unknown number of owner bikes that don't run anymore ones. I love how informed in riding they have been bringing to the show as well. Puts a smile on my face. The "WHEEEE!!!" speedy wobbly takeoff for the first time. Lulz!
