Plot Summary

The anime is set in a continent ruled by sword and magic called Kunaaan, where a power balance between the Holy Kingdom of Amoria, the Kingdom of Ishilfen, and the Vanrodis Kingdom keeps a peace so unstable that any tragedy that befalls any one kingdom will mean war for the entire continent. Another power, the evil dragon Daganzord, also resides on the continent, and no one is powerful enough to stop him from spreading destruction and charred land in his wake. Two individuals, Bairo and Kismitete, undertook a ritual alongside a party of wizards to seal Daganzord, but were foiled. This event was known thereafter as the Balbagoa Tragedy. Bairo and Kismitete's son Hiiro is saved by Giiru, and Hiiro swears to avenge his parents' deaths and trains himself with the sword. When Hiiro turns 16, he sets out on a journey to slay the dragon, and Giruu accompanies him, having no choice. Along the way, they meet many types of people, and gain companions on their journey.

Episode 1

It begins with a dragon being sealed, but it fails when Hiiro is struck by an arrow. And into town he goes to buy a trinket that a boy stole so that a bodyguard wouldn't hurt him. Then Peshate tries to steal the Grand Trowa and is about to be executed for it with Hiiro saving the boy. All while saying that drawing blades shouldn't be happening unless it's necessary. As it turns out, that Trowa belonged to Hiiro's father and is needed to seal Zot, and after it was activated, out comes Zot. Well, that was pretty bad as things just happened without any good reason there. I'm in the dark about a lot of things that I should know about, which is not a good thing. I'll keep watching for a little while longer, but with a lot of fantasy shows this season, somewhere I'm going to have to cut back.

Wow, that was an underwhelming start.

Almost fell asleep half way after although Hiiro seems to be a badass in some ways. I sincerely hope the show improves in the future in particular characterization/background storytelling.

There's potential here, but overall first episode was lacking.

I did like the loli dog/fox girl or whatever she was.

Episode 1: The Lord of the Dark Dragons

Wasn't really feeling this first episode but I will stick around to see what happens. I felt like the show was lost in what they were trying to portray.

Starting off from a scene from his past, (his mom though ) to him playing tag with some kids. It just felt a little off. But the latter half did pick up with the dragon popping up.

At first I thought he switched bodies with the dragon, but looking at it now, the dragon is most likely his pet or something. Also who was that mysterious ice woman they showed for like 10 seconds? Find out soon enough I suppose.

Hopefully things improve for me during the next episode. Also that sheath is waaaay too big for that sword XD. Also he isn't really a bad ass considering he didn't scratch any of the enemies with his sword.

A little slow to start but picked up near the end.

Nice to see a show that isn't progostist get stuck in a game or summoned to another world. I'll stick with it for now to see where it goes.

Plus can't go wrong with loli catgirls/fox things!

The show nailed the fantasy setting but the first episode wasn´t very good, there were so many plot points happening at the same time that it came out very confusing.

They could´ve cut some things out of the episode and it would have been a lot better, for example, that part where the blue haired girl used ice magic or whatever it was is totally pointless since we don´t who she is or what she´s doing. In fact we don´t even know what is the exact connection between Hiiro and the dragon, we just know his father did something to both of them, but they didn´t explain that at all.

There is a lot of potential here, the fact that it is based on a mobile game doesn´t matter, the best example of this is Rage of Bahamut Genesis, which was based on a mobile card game, and the anime turned out to be incredible. Let´s just hope the anime improves from here, or it will be forgotten very quickly.

The best part of the whole episode was the game of "tag" between Hiiro and the boys. Also the clever way the boy stole the gem was pretty impressive. He should have gotten away with it just for being so creative and stealthy.

Other than that generic fantasy anime with a Dragonheart vibe only I'm betting this won't be nearly as good as Dragonheart.

Lots of hype around this season's anime but so far I'm not seeing much living up to said hype.

I liked this.
Like the sword and sorcery setting.
Highly amused by the kids disappearing stuff and Hiiro being a bit full and ahead of himself.
The link between Hiiro and the evil dragon is intriguing.

And they totally inserted the royal regalia of Japan into a more typical western fantasy setting.

Wow so much negativity. I liked this one.

It reminded me a lot of some of those old fantasy anime like Deltora Quest, Beet the Vandelbuster, MAR, and Lord of Lord Ryu Knight.
It felt good to go back to those simpler times.
