Sitting there for most of the episode like.... "Please don't be another Chaos Dragon. Please don't be another Chaos Dragon".

It took some time to get going, but it hasn't revealed a whole lot either. That little fox girl thing is kind of annoying and her spell names... . Really hoping that the next episode gives more insight to what has happened since that failed sealing attempt and the connection between Hiiro and the dragon.

I finally got around to watch this, and I must say the first episode left me wanting more. It had a great setup and introduced the characters quite well. It gave us just enough exposition without boring us, and started to explain more about them through the narrative. Now its not that original of a show, but then again what is? The range of diverse characters is exceptional, as is how well the characters are written. Each individual feels like a living, breathing person. The characters in this show are fleshed out rather well and makes you really care for them. At the end, we also get a sneak peak on how the story seems to want to progress itself towards, and I am kinda feeling a Berserk vibe to it. The visuals make me feel like I am watching a Ufotable anime while the soundtrack seems like it was composed by Hans Zimmer. This anime was written rather well, and I am pleased with the outcome. If it can keep up this pace, this will be my AOTS.

Ep 1

Hiiro seems like a cool MC. Not too overpowered or anything, so I like that. Most of the episode felt all over the place without any real explanation as to what is going on. There seems to be a connection of some sort between Hiiro and Zot, the dragon, based on the scars they both have. Outside of that I really don't know what's going on...

I did chuckle at that epic sword slash where the knights were freaking out, until they realized that Hiiro missed them completely.

Hope it gets better going forward.

I was really disappointed by this one. Not the worst first episode I've seen nor as bad as say Phantasy Star Online 2's first episode but it was pretty close. The first thing I noticed was the extremely bland and lackluster animation. The show opens to some very non detailed helmets that look like any young kid could have drawn and then we get to see their horrible blocky weapons which again have very little, actually no detail to them. They're not even shiny and could be paper cut outs for all I know. Everything is just really really bland. Reminds me of some cheap mmo with big blocky swords and very little attention to detail.

Then then there's the characters. I just get the feeling that they're trying too hard to make their characters seem cool. They're trying too hard to make it seem dark. Instead of letting the story show us how dark it's setting is or how cool their characters are they're trying to beat me over the head with it ala Zack Snyder style. Sorry but I can get it. You don't have to keep showing me those Superman/Jesus comparisons over and over. I got it the first freaking time and I'm not that freaking dense. Whoops, wrong show but the same principle applies. Mainly I just can't get over how awful it looks. The weapons remind me of He-man weapons but at least He-Man has the whole "so cheesy it's good" thing going for it while this doesn't. I'm really sad because I was so looking forward to this one too.

I might give it another episode before deciding, but with so many shows available this season, I have a feeling there are going to be plenty that are more worth the time.

Episode 2

This episode goes to show just how evil Nambuuko is as the main villain is using the dragon to conquer the world and impose his reign of terror. As for what to do next, Hiiro needs to eat and sleep, and after getting fleeced by some cat girl, they crash with those kids. Then Hiiro does some heavy duty training by slaying slimes. And then a girl appears from out of a sand dragon that she had tamed. Well, at least that was better than the first episode, but still it was pretty dull and lifeless. I'll give it one more episode before deciding what to do.

Wow, his was such a borefest.

Either way, the show better really step it up or I'm going to be end up being pretty disappointed especially by what's shown so far.

Episode 2: The Dark Crystal

I will say that the girl at the end was cute af. I should use that pick up line one time though. Lean in on someone's chest. "You have a nice heart beat....I like it" Then get slapped for Sexual Harassment ;-;

His "training" wasn't all that interesting nor was it as intense as I'd have expected it to be. Maybe that's the reason why he sucks with the sword, He probably takes after his dad who looked more mage like.

Ooohhh cat ear's spotted, she's in the opening so I'm looking forward to seeing more of her and her relationship to Hiiro cause she seems to know quite a bit about him.

I did find the episode to be a bit dry though. There was quite a bit of world building with the Three Kingdoms. Anyways I'm hoping it picks up but on to the next one

I tend to try ant NOT be too critical of anime. i think most have their place and fanbase and I know when people talk bad about anime I really like that it can get to me at times, but so far just not impressed with this one.

I'll give it at LEAST 1 more episode though because the actual premise still seems worthy of my time. I tend to love most any fantasy based anime, but I am having a hard time investing in this one so far.

First episode was lackluster and 2nd didn't really add anything. Plus the animation is rough at best.

Like I said in my first post here, I see a lot of potential here. Just not much execution so far.

Eh, meh, it's not bad but nor is it good. Plus animation quality is all over the place. About the only character I'm remotely interested in Hiiro's mother, Kissmeete. Offering yourself up as a sacrifice to an uber dragon only switch off and go on the attack? Tonnes more bad-assery potential there than her son has shown in two episodes.

Also, if I'm gonna get attacked by a slime I'd rather it be Suu.

This is a wish we should make for anime in general, these days.

well that was fun. We are introduce to a few more characters and hiiro get some training and meet a cute girl that comes out of a dragon's mouth??

The animation quality is okay, but I'm enjoying the characters I'll keep watching.
