Episode 1

Benio is off to Tokyo, while Rokuro is having a hard time finding a girlfriend as he just goes after them randomly. On the way to Tokyo, Benio is attacked on the bullet train, and with her exorcism powers, With the Kegare attack, Rokuro is called to duty, but he wants nothing to do with being an exorcist. That all changes when Rokuro falls out from the sky and they are attacked by a big Kegare that's too much for a tired Benio to handle alone. So Rokuro steps in to save the day. That's a solid way to begin this show, though I felt that it jumped into the action without really setting up the story. Anyway, this feels just like Kekkaishi, but this is far more serious in tone, and I'll keep watching for the time being seeing that the action is good.

Always wondered how she got up there in the Manga. Kind of neat that the anime explained it.

They Introduced Mayura a bit early and filled it with a lot of action to get the ball rolling but over all pretty good rendition of the first chapter.

The key to the success of this series is going to be how well they manage to get the relationship between Rokuro and Benio across.

I see Rokuro has been doing 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and 10km running every day.

Holy shit that was awesome!

I went into this one not knowing or expecting anything out of it other than the few preview images i had seen.

Now seeing it in action was totally different and unexpected.

The art style is different, but great. The animations are cool. the fighting is good and I love the freeze frames during character introductions and special attacks.

Plus there is a good bit of cuteness and comedy thrown into the mix as well.

I know there are still a lot of shows to go, but so far this has been my favorite first episode of the season.

Great First impression. i hope it continues to be strong.

Episode 1

I haven't read the Manga, but I hear its pretty decent. The first episode definitely gives it that flare with all the action going on.

I enjoyed this episode, so I await what else it has to offer. The Manga might be on my read list after I research some premises and such.

Not a bad start.
Although the flow was predictable, the action and visuals seem decent, and I liked the blood vessel like-Magano world.
Monsters have some really derpy laughs . I was thinking what a Shoryuken, but One Punch was definitely more apt in that moment. Sadly, not a fan of the kiddy looks, but it's something different I suppose.

So Rokuro's arm seems to be a Kegare thingy, seeing as he lost it within the first seconds of the show - wonder if that will grow over time?

I heard studio Pierrot is going to be adapting this into 52 episodes according to the Chinese series description.

Not sure if I should believe it.. Well, it is Pierrot....

Hmmm the animation is better than I expected... considering it's an evening anime done by Studio Pierrot. Though it's just the 1st episode so we'll see.

I remember reading the first chapter of the manga as a preview in Shonen Jump and it seems they changed a few scenes. I don't remember that green haired chick. Overall plot progression is the same for now.

Pretty good start really.

Giving this show 2 more episodes. Don't know why, but I'm just not feeling it. Though I'll still try and say what i did and didn't like...

What I liked:
-Animation, art, ost (the usual stuff that's almost always good in modern anime)
-What boils down to Rokuro's PTSD
-Showing how strong Rokuro is through both dialogue of other characters and actions
-That intro scene was executed exceptionally well
-I heard this show is getting 52 episodes so if that's true and I stick with it, I'll be able to fill my time with a new long running show
-Music added to the tension and there's a wide variety of music

What I disliked:
-Benio's character (multiple reasons in the next bullets)
~She hates conversations, but almost immediately talks Rokuro in that alternate world
~She's quiet except when it comes to her favorite food and she becomes violent towards the person who gave her the money for the food
~As a quiet character, there is no back and forth dialogue, ultimately leading to the lack of her characterization (although she does have a little characterization. I'm just saying that little dialogue leads to little knowledge of the characters so the audience won't care about said character)
-Benio's grandma or whoever... Her VA is just annoying tbh... Personal gripe, the VA did a good job nonetheless
-They introduced a lot of characters who had little to no dialogue and their only purpose so far is to characterize Rokuro more (not a bad thing, but they should get some kind of characterization)
-The person at the end who basically looks like some one dimensional cartoon villain
~I mean did you see his facial expression as he was laughing like a maniac for no reason?
-Destiny... Why destiny? It makes the actions of the characters seem pointless as everything that happened was caused by their destiny... :/
-Gotta love that pointless fanservice when Rokuro runs into that green haired girls boobs and they intentionally slowed down the animation to highlight that moment
-The fact that Rokuro didn't want to exorcise those demons (sorry I don't remember names of things very well) because of his memories of the time he survived that massacre, but when the time comes, he suddenly starts fighting instead of running (this is redeemed because of how they show him gettig that little kid's bag back so I won't mark doen the show on that front)
-Weird pacing. The episode started tense, then slowed down, then sped up like crazy, then slowed down, and ended fast. The transitions and buildup were good, but it switched so fast that it's kind of messed with the impacts of a couple scenes

All in all, this show has potential and more than enough episodes to convey its plot. If it focuses on action and fanservice over story, then it's not going to be that good. If it can somehow execute the idea of destiny and give that villai characterization, then it'll get way better. This is only the first episode so I can't say much (even though I did), but from the shows I've watched so far, this tied for my second lowest of the season. None of this is permanent so take my critiques with a grain of salt until the first few episodes are out. Also, it's obviously not the worst this season. I've only seen like 4 other series this season...

You've got some valid points on the negative side, although some of them are anime specific. I can address a few points if you want
