Yes, no bubble style. I hate that crap.

This anime has half of me. So far, the story is fun. The characters are mostly streamline.

The only thing I dislike is the kids teeth and their age. A barely teen (unsure of their age, but they look like kids to me) practicing exorcism is sort of a stretch. And the teeth some recent anime are using for some male characters. The ones where they look like a meth addiction took their teeth through a blender. They need to quit that

They are 14 at this point in the story. They will age though.

I don't dislike Studio Pierrot actually. Some of my favorite anime are animated by them. It's just that a lot of their morning/evening shows (Beelzebub, Bleach, Kingdom, Naruto...) leave a bit to be desired when it comes to animation, compared to some of their late night shows (Level E, Tokyo Ghoul...). And it's not just Pierrot, Ace of Diamond, another evening anime, was co-produced by Madhouse and Production IG (two of my favorite studios) and it still managed to have some of the laziest animations I've seen in recent memory.

Even though I can think of a few exceptions (Baby Steps, Gintama), It just seems like morning/evening shows usually get lower production values than late night anime. Which is why I was surprised by how great TSE's first episode looked.

Thanks for the answer / the add I am putting in below is just how another reviwer felt about the misconception of Pierrot

FOR OTHER ANIME FANS that have a dislike / Not You!

A really good blogger has the same view about Studio Pierrot as myself Partial Quote

First Impressions – Sousei no Onmyouji / April 6, 2016Guardian EnzoAnime, First Impressions, ReviewsAnime, First Impressions, reviews

In hindsight, this might very well have been the best premiere I watched today – if not, it’s certainly a matter of inches either way. There may not be another studio more unjustly dismissed than Pierrot – they’re still talked about with dismissive scorn by most anime fans, but if you look at their batting average over the last couple of years they may just be hitting at a higher rate than anybody else. They choose good material to adapt, they generally make the right decisions in their adaptations, and they’re even starting to deliver very solid production values a lot of the time – just look at Akatsuki no Yona, and with Osomatsu-san being a generational hit as an original for them I hope that trend only continues.

I heard studio Pierrot is going to be adapting this into 52 episodes according to the Chinese series description.

Not sure if I should believe it.. Well, it is Pierrot....

If that's true then I'm friggin stoked for this. I am loving the manga, it's gets real heavy, real fast and the character don't just stay at their current age and one of the things I love in a series is character aging over time. It makes the story feel more real ya know?

Actually, from what I have heard, it's going to be filler/anime original content. So, any hopes of Manga adaptation is out..

I didn´t know what to expect from this, but the first episode was quite decent honestly, the animation was good, the characters I think were introduced very well (Benio is adorable) and the lore seems interesting enough. It really has great potential.

People always like to make fun of Pierrot and there are a lot of valid reasons to do so, their bad adaptations are some of the worst that can be seen in the anime industry, but they have shown that they are more than capable of doing a good adaptation, like in Yu Yu Hakusho and Yona of the Dawn. When the studio adapted the story of the manga for Bleach and Naruto, the episodes were really good. I just hope they don´t screw up this time like they did with Tokyo Ghoul.

It was fine. It looks like it's shaping up to be a good fun shonen romp. My only issue is that annoying snarf-clone that follows the girl around. If I had to bet I would say he's probably not in the manga. Maybe I'll just read that instead.

Ep 1

I haven't read the manga, so I had no expectations going into this, but it was entertaining, actually. I liked the visual style. The crudely drawn Karage were fittingly creepy and the action scenes were stylish. A number of characters were introduced and each looks interesting. The world itself is probably the most appealing part of the episode. We don't know a lot about whats going on, but I am interested to learn more. Benio was cute and Rokuro clearly has a past of some sort. I hope things are explained before long, but for now I'm happy.

Doing my dutiful watch at least an episode or few of everything, and this is in the pile of things that seem not so likely to keep my interest.

I do like some of the style of things, and the story isn't bad, but I get easily burned out on supernatural battling, so...I'll try to find time for episode 2 at some point. Some of the comments here about the manga make me think sticking around could be worthwhile even if this isn't my favorite genre.

While Supernatural battle is a big part of it, it's not the part that makes the series really fun (for me anyway).
The best part gets set up next episode thanks to the mystery laughing fellow at the end.

Episode 2

Benio mobes in, while Rokuro wants nothing to do with being an exorcist due to his friends parents being killed two years ago in the line of duty. Then comes the chief exorcist Arima all the way from Kyoto to gather all the exorcists to let everybody know that Benio and Rokuro are worthy of the title given to the top exorcist and the two fight. But Arima provokes Rokuro to fight and after a display of power, the two are called the Twin Star Exorcists and destined to marry. That was a pretty good way to follow up the first episode to get Rokuro to get back into doing exorcism after everything that happened.

Is this going to be like that rpg where the hero has to make it with the girls so their kids can go out and fight the monsters?

Those are some badass 14 years olds.

As soon as the head exorcist started talking about the Miko, I knew it would be their kid. I figured it was going to become an arranged marriage. I didn't expect that badass fight beforehand though.

I think this show is a lot of fun. Still digging the art style. Especially on Benio when she is in full exorcist mode. it also seems to have a great balance between comedy, action, mysticism and darkness.

I can already tell this is going to be a good one to enjoy for the season.
