Episode 3

The comedy isn't really appealing to me that much. I feel its distracting to the buildup of the episode, especially during important parts. Even so, this episode sure was interesting.

A lot does happen in a short span of time, but not short enough to be clueless of the situation.

E3

Well, I did expect a serious episode this time, but that went unexpectedly crazy. Comedy was a little bit better this time, though I have never seen so much brother and sister loving overtly .

If Rashoumon is an indiscriminate eater, I'd assume that applies to his master, given the coughs that he keeps displaying.
My guess for Dazai's previous occuptation was one of two things: a pro-life activist or a murderer, so I suppose the latter was close. I am curious as to why a gun wouldn't be able to stop him, as his ability seems to be effective against gifts only.

It would be nice to see how Port Mafia controls Akutagawa , given the strength of his power, and what the agency does for severely injured agents - a healer? That sister did get absolutely wrecked...

Much longer spiel this time since we're starting to make connections between characters. The show definitely picked up the pace this week and I enjoyed it a lot more (other than stopping in the middle to look up the new characters ).

Ryūnosuke Akutagawa - regarded as the "Father of the Japanese short story" and Japan's premier literary award, the Akutagawa Prize, is named after him. Suffered poor health near the end of his life. He committed suicide at the age of 35 through an overdose of barbital after experiencing hallucinations. He feared he had inherited his mother’s mental disorder.

He opposed naturalism (utilized by Kunikida Doppo).

Akutagawa had a highly publicized dispute with Jun'ichirō Tanizaki over the importance of structure versus lyricism in story. Akutagawa argued that structure, how the story was told, was more important than the content or plot of the story, whereas Tanizaki argued the opposite.

Akira Kurosawa used Akutagawa’s short story “Yabu no Naka” (In a Grove) as the basis for the plot of his award-winning movie Rashōmon. The movie borrowed the setting and a plot about the moral ambiguity of stealing from another short story by Atutagawa called Rashoman. "In a Grove" presents three varying accounts of the murder of a samurai, Kanazawa no Takehiro, whose corpse has been found in a bamboo forest near Kyoto. Each section simultaneously clarifies and obfuscates what the reader knows about the murder, eventually creating a complex and contradictory vision of events that brings into question humanity's ability or willingness to perceive and transmit objective truth.

Ichiyō Higuchi was the pen name of Japanese author Natsu Higuchi. Japan′s first prominent woman writer of modern times. Her work is highly regarded for her use of Classical Japanese language, and for that reason people are reluctant to update or translate it into contemporary Japanese, leaving it difficult for the majority of Japanese people to read.

They didn't give her a power this week, she just used the guns but if she has one, it's probably called "Jūsan'ya" ("The Thirteenth Night") or "Takekurabe" ("Child's Play"). Those are considered her best works.

Some more info on Naomi:
She is uneducated but embodies Western culture. Naomi enjoys Western activities like visiting the theatre or looking at the pictures in Western magazines. She is the perfect example of a modern girl (garu) with little inhibitions and very sexually aggressive. Naomi is extremely manipulative and manages to take control of her relationship with Jōji, beginning as a subordinate to becoming a dominatrix.

Said to be originally based off of Jun'ichirō Tanizaki's sister-in-law which could explain the jokes about them not looking alike.

Like Dazai's, Akutagawa's and Higuchi's works tend to deal with the darker side of humans so he fits right in with them as a former mafia member.

Another goofy eps of Bungo stay dogs as our resident fatalist goes on a job with the two insect brother and sister.

A good eps taking the series in a direction I didn't expect..

The job guessing game is fun to play with people you don't know in real life, but play games with. It can be quite shocking!

Shit just got real! . I was hoping it would get serious, but still have some comedy in it. I imagine the siblings will pull through, but for a moment there until they both moved again I was like "they aren't going to kill two members right away, are they?".

Just what the hell was Atsushi up to to get a bounty that big on him? I wonder if Dazai was Akutagawa's mentor in the past?

Episode 3

Things have gotten really interesting with Dazai running into a mafia gang he used to belong to just like that, and Atsushi has a bounty on his weretiger soul. Things suddenly got serious there with Akutagawa out for blood, but while that's good, the comedy just didn't work at all. Anyway, this is something that's going to take everything the detective agency has to get through this.

Episode 3: Yokohama Gangster Paradise

Damn, this episode made this show jump up in my rankings a lot. They did manage to mix the comedy and the seriousness very well by showing how severe the actual situation was. There was no time for comedy which was good.

Action was great, wondering how imouto is going to survive though, might do with her ability, but she just took a whole clip to the back so curious to see how they approach that.

Things are definitely heating up with new conflicts and character points revealed like how Dazai used to work with those Port Mafia yitches. That's going to be interesting.

Really good episode, looking forward to the next one

So far only people named after authors have abilities, and Naomi is main character in one of Tanizaki's books.

This is one of those odd shows that I can't entirely place exactly what is going on, or what everything means. Yet, I also can't stop watching it.

I just hope we keep getting a little more explanation and plot development as things move on.

Also it was really neat to see how some of their abilities can be combined with one-another for combos and such.

I'm assuming Akiko Yosano functions as their white mage with her "Thou Shalt not Die" ability so hopefully Naomi's got a few more eps in her.
